Inviting Special Guests to Your Classroom
Through Videoconferencing (Bickley, et al.,
ISTE EdTech 2019)
• First, this presentation focused on identifying primary
Conference sources of information.

2019 - • Second, this presentation focused on strategies to

connect with the people around these primary sources
who can make direct communication with the primary
Philadelphia sources possible.
• Third, this presentation linked videoconferencing in the
classroom with primary sources to ISTE standards.
Inviting Special Guests to Your Classroom
Through Videoconferencing (Bickley, et al.,
ISTE EdTech 2019)
• As a history teacher, providing my students with direct
Conference access to primary sources is exciting. It personalizes the
content.
2019 - • Getting a primary source to spend a day in person at my
school is challenging.
Philadelphia • Technology such as videoconferencing opens new and
exciting doors of opportunity to connect my students to
the history-makers.
Teaching Critical Thinking Skills in the Age of
ISTE EdTech Fake News (Hudgins, 2019)

Conference • First, this presentation established principles of dealing

with misinformation.

2019 - • Second, this presentation defined misinformation as an

“insidious attack on empathy” (Hudgins, 2019).

Philadelphia • Third, this presentation provided tools for educators and

students to become media literate.
Teaching Critical Thinking Skills in the Age of
ISTE EdTech Fake News (Hudgins, 2019)
• As a history teacher, I would be interested to learn what
Conference the presenter defines as “fake news”. History has always
been written by the winners – thus misinformation is not
2019 - new.
• As a history teacher, I would be interested to learn what
Philadelphia tools the presenter provides educators and students to
differentiate between real and fake news.
