Jacketed Piping

Inner or Product Pipe

The Pipes which are carrying the core product is defined as Inner
Pipe or Product Pipe

Jacket Pipe
The pipes which are used to carry heating
medium to maintain temperature of the inner
pipe or product pipe, Were this pipes are
generally overlaid on the product pipe.

Jacket Pipe Assembly

Inner Pipe is connected with reduce bore Slip-on Flange, Outer


Jacket pipe will be welded on the Hub collar of the Slip-on flange.
To weld the Jacket pipe reduce bore Slip-on Flange to be
machined and matched with Jacket Pipe Bore.
Jacket Pipe Spools

1. All jacketed pipe lengths shall be provided


with flange connections at each pipe end
and shall have an overall length with
minimum and maximum dimensions below.
2. Each length of jacketed piping shall have up
to three ¾ inch nozzles supplied with class
150 socket weld flanges on the jacket. At one
side there shall be a nozzle for steam supply;
at the other side, there shall be one nozzle
for condensate discharge, and one nozzle for
jump-over
3. The nozzles shall be located as close as
possible to the flanged spool ends.

Valves
1. Jacket should be provided with end to end of the flange.
2. Sufficient tapings shall be provided on the valve jacket to
ensure proper drainage of valve jacket regardless of installed
position. Tapings shall be flanged ¾ inch.
Jacket Circuit

1. Fresh steam shall be supplied for each Jacket Circuit.


2. Maximum 15 meters of straight pipe, OR
3. Maximum of 8 pipe sections, valves and/or flanged fittings.
4. The nozzles shall be located as close as possible to the flanged spool ends.
5. Steam shall be fed to the steam inlet nozzle of the jacket.
6. Each pipe spool shall have its own steam trap
7. The steam flow shall continue via the jump-over nozzle to the steam inlet
nozzle of the next spool
Rodding Devices

1. Rodding devices shall be installed for the cleaning of the Liquid Sulfur
Product lines when gravity flow conditions exist.
2. Change of direction where rodding devices are required shall only be made
by 90° branch connections.
3. Where so required, 45° elbows may be used with oversized 45° elbows as
the jacket.
