LESSON 1 TLE 10

Dining Room Layout

Ms. Hilda Diolazo

Dining room is the place where food which has
been carefully prepared is to be served.
In a food service establishment, care must be
taken to prepare and arrange the dining room such
that efficient service to guests can be render.
The best food may lose its appeal when served
in a poor manner. On the other hand, good service
sometimes makes up for whatever is lacking in
the food.
Dining room preparation covers the arrangement of
tables, centerpiece and other table appointments, the
proper way of setting the table, and the appropriate table
of appointments for the right table service.

One satisfying experience for a customer is to
see a dining room which is beautifully arranged in a
simple or elegant manner and with proper
considerations on the convenience of the customers
or guests.
Dining room layout should provide ease and
comfort for the diners. Choosing the table and chair
for the dining room depends on the size of the
room. Arrangement vary from functions or
occasions and the number of guests who will
occupy the hall.
Common Types of Dining Room Layout
 Convention Set-up
 Conference Set-up
 Buffet Set-up
Convention Set-up
- caters to large number
of guests; needs more
waiters to set and serve.
Conference Set-up
- for smaller groups; tables
are arranged closer with each
other.
Buffet Set-up
- self-service. Guest from their line near the
buffet table to get their food, a server scoops
serving portions and places them in guest’s
plates.
