HOW TO WRITE A GOOD REPORT

1.It is not compulsory to write everything in a


report, you choose either 2/3 analysis from the
data given.
2. The word ‘only’ and ‘almost to a quarter’(in a
pie chart) considered as a trend.
3. In a bar graph,if given 2/3 bars in a year,it is
easier if calculate each bar in that particular year
to help in writing the analysis. E.g : in 2008, the
size of the areas of deforestation is 97,000
hectares (44,000+38,000+15,000).
• Make sure you write exactly 200 words, not
less and not more than….
• Good report should have analysis and synthesis
• More synthesis are better than many analysis.
• Overview can be omitted in a report
• Title is just a formality not compulsory when
writing a report
• Formula for report:
1. Title 2. Introduction 3. Overview 4. Body
(Analysis and Synthesis) 5. Conclusion
• Title – usually found in the question
• Introduction – Paragraph 1 :( What do the stimuli
show?) table/graph/pie chart/excerpt
• Overview/Trend – what is the most outstanding idea
that LINKS all stimuli) In general……
• * take note: NO FIGURE*
• Body- Paragraph 2-3/4:Key Features(What are the
outstanding info from the graphs?):-
• Analysis – analyze the data given in the graph
• Synthesis - analyze the data graph and link with the
other data in the table
• Conclusion-Last paragraph: Summary(Mention the
main trend again)
• Always remember to look at the figures given
in the graphs ( X and Y)
• Make sure to write the data when you analyze
the graph(no data no marks awarded)
• Do not write any data(figure) when you write
an overview
