04 Holocaust

Karly Wilkins
Why were you persecuted?

When it first happened I didn’t know why I was being persecuted. But when I had
seen the hundreds of people that were gathered together to be inspected and
questioned. At one point the answer had become very apparent to me that the
reason I had been persecuted was because I am a jew. I was hearing about this guy
named Adolf Hitler and he did not like jew people and he had wanted to wipe out
all of the jews.
Where did you go? Describe your experience at the camp. What happened to
your family? How did the U.S respond to your experience

My family and I had gone to a prison camp in a place called Auschwitz. The time we
had gotten there everyone had been broken up into groups by female and male. My
father and brother had been taken from my mom, sister and me. I so very worried
for both of their safety’s but there wasn’t anything I could do about it. We had to
follow the orders that the Nazi’s had given us from Hitler. We had gotten stripped
down and given these yellow clothes that had labeled us so people knew we were
jews. I think that the U.S did not show much care towards us I haven’t heard
anything about the U.S
What will your future bring? Predict what will happen to you now that you have been liberated. How has the world changed since your
imprisonment? How have you changed?

We had been let free of our imprisonment but not all had been let free. When I was
let free I was looking for my father but I don’t know what had happened to him. I
think that the Nazi’s were seeking for workers and I think that he was one of them.
My brother had told me to not worry all to much and that we would find him
sooner or later. My sister and mother had been taken also to do work I have never
seen my mom so traumatized before usually she is a very loving and caring person
but this has changed her i think she is scared from her captivity. I feel that I have
changed my attitude on how I look at things now. This had also taught me how to
be more grateful for the things I have in my life.
