In what ways can
System analysis be
applied to the study
or investigation of
education?
System Analysis applied to
Education aims to establish
and maintain complete,
adequate and integrated
system of education relevant to
the goals of educational
development.

Gathering Data for
Educational
Research
Step 1:
Identify the goals and aims of the
educational program.
Providing the students an opportunity to
develop a healthy social, intellectual,
emotional and physical self-concept in a
learning environment that provide guidance
and encourages critical thinking in students.
In striving to meet this overall goal,
the objectives of the education program
are to provide students with an
opportunity to:
1.Students will listen for information and respond
effectively.
2. Student will use math skills to solve problems
encountered as consumers and workers
3. Students will apply technology to gather and use
information in realsituations.
4. Students will write clearly to express their own ideas and
to convey information to an audience
5. Students will reason to logically solve problems,
make decisions, and solve conflicts.
6. Students will speak to clearly express their own ideas
and to communicate information using language that is
appropriate for the audience.
7. Students will read for information and pleasure.

Gather quantitative and qualitative data on
the economic, social and cultural subsystem
of the educational program and their
relationships.
Quantitative Research
-is the process of collecting and analyzing
numerical data. It can be used to find
patterns and averages, make predictions, test
causal relationships and generalize results to
wider populations.
Qualitative Research
-involves collecting and analyzing non-numerical
data (ex.text, video,or audio) to understand concepts,
opinions, or experiences. It can be used to gather in –
depth insights into a problem or generate new ideas
for research.
Qualitative Research
-commonly used in (Humanities and Social
Sciences; Anthropology, Sociology, Education,
Health Sciences, History….)

Step 3:
Construct an evaluative instrument which can
gauge the students’ knowledge, skills, attitudes
and values after the educational program had
been implemented
Step 4:
Analyze, interpret data gathered about the inputs and its
processes (obtained in Step 2) and the outputs (obtained
under Step 3) which is the level of knowledge and skills
acquired and the attitude and values developed among the
students .Vis-a-vis the aims and objectives of the
educational program being evaluated.
