INTRODUCTION
DakNet is an internet service based on the
technology, which was spun-off from an idea, known
as DonkeyNet.

DakNet is an ad hoc network which uses wireless

technology to provide digital connectivity.

It uses a store and forward technique through Wi-

Fi, which is described as "Cached Wi-Fi
Intelligence”
WHY DAKNET?
Technologies like store and forward or asynchronous
modes of communication can be significantly lower in
cost.

Providers can use asynchronous modes of

communication to create local information
repositories that community members can add to and
query.

Have shared communication infrastructure.

Myths And Truths

Myth : The village telephone is the best model for

poor communities.
Truth : Giving everyone access to digital
messaging is better than installing a community
telephone.

Myth :Poor people don’t need computers.

Truth : The poor not only need digital services, but
they are willing and able to pay for them.
The main parts of Daknet architecture e are
• Mobile access point
• Hub
• Kiosk

CHALLENGES
Determining actual ICT demand from the end-user
market

Developing locally relevant applications to generate

demand for DakNet

Building a strong ecosystem of partnerships

Managing relationships with clients and partners

FEATURES OF DAKNET
Daknet provides one of the lowest-cost accessibility
solutions in the world.
Ability for upgrading the always-on broadband
connectivity.
With multiple MAP buses, a low cost wireless
network and seamless communication infrastructure
gets created.
STRATEGY FOR THE FUTURE
Form strategic partnerships with existing application
developers.

Securing locally relevant applications

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
Addition of fixes location wireless antennas and
towers.

By replacing mobile access points with fixed

transceivers real-time connectivity is possible

Instead of using WiFi, wi-max or e-video can be used

CONCLUSION
Provided millions of people their first possibility for
digital connectivity.

Shift the policy focus of the Government’s funds from

wireless village telephones to wireless ad-hoc
networking
