Objective of the Study

To understand the supply chain activities of Ayurblends – The Herbal


Store and also to gain a deeper insight onto the Impact of Covid-19 upon
their operational and supply chain activities.
AYURBLENDS - THE HERBAL
STORE

Ayurblends – The Herbal Store, is a Chennai based firm run by Ms. Aishwarya. N,
dealing with authentic handcrafted ayurvedic and natural products for skin care, hair
care and baby care and for all genders.

Ayurblends started its journey in January, 2019 as a Homepreneur business focusing


only on a few items like cleansing bars and hair oil.
A Homepreneur is nothing but a person who runs his/her business from his/her home itself.
With the inclusion of networking and internet to each and every aspect of business,
homeprenuerial business, idealogy of work from home, all are experiencing a boom in their
respective categories.

The journey of Ayurblends is quite interesting.

From starting their product range with just 2 products, Ayurblends now deal with 47 different
products under different product heads.

They had their first production unit limited to a small space in their kitchen itself. 6 months
into the business, she started receiving a very good response and reviews from the customers.
Customers also requested more varieties in the products and asked for personal favourites
which created a positive push in the sales graph.
Ayurblends initially started their business through the most popular Instagram and
later on extended to other popular platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp Business and
Youtube.

Ayurblends, being a Homepreneur business activity, has come across a lot of benefits.

• Less overheads
• Flexible working hours
• Less marketing cost
Ayurblends – The Herbal Store come under the industry of Beauty and Personal
Care.
When Covid-19 hit the world and people got stuck at home, the industry faced a hard
time, but the hardship didn’t last much longer.

Though people showed a reluctance and fear in purchasing online in the initial
months, abundance in time among people who are stuck at home, made them turn
their heads towards personal hygiene and wellness and started to adopt a routine skin
care regime.

Major Findings of the Study
This project report study had its focus mainly upon the SUPPLY CHAIN ACTIVITIES
of Ayurblends – The Herbal Store.

This study helped to gain a deeper insight into the operational techniques and
methods used for production and storage, their active partners in supply chain and
also the Impact of Covid-19 on their supply chain activities.

- Instead of their usual partners, Delhivery and Fetchto, they had to seek the help of
Swiggy.
- Cost of delivery through Swiggy was comparatively higher, so Ayurblends had to
bear 50% of delivery charge themselves.
- Experienced a tremendous increase in the sales due to Covid-19.
- Achieved product diversification.
- Increase in the percentage of loyal customers.
Suggestions
- Inclusion of Retail outlets in their supply chain.
- More attractive packing.
Conclusion

From the detailed analysis of the above Project Report, it was arrived at a conclusion that, carrying out the
business as a Homepreneur activity, involves only a minimal number of parties in the supply chain and has
also eliminated the inclusion of mediators and other secondary dealers in the supply chain.

With regard to the effect of Covid-19 wave on to business, Ayurblends survived the wave in an exceptional
manner and managed to reap a surprisingly good amount of profit. Unlike other businesses who got
severely affected by the Virus, Ayurblends were not only able to survive the phase, but also could create
new diversifications in their business and expand it further.
