MANAGING SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN 2

Introduction
The world’s largest producer of aseptic oxygen-free packaging for dairy products, juices, ice
cream, cheese, dry fruits etc.

Founded in 1951 in Sweden by Dr Ruben Rausing and employs 25,000 people in 160 countries.

Tetra Pak sold total packaging systems including proprietary machinery, materials, and services.

Tetra Pak: The aseptic properties of the packaging meant that a cold chain was no longer
required for many products, leading to reduced logistics costs and less product spoilage.

Tetra Pak’s goal was to have 40% of its packaging recycled by 2020

Competition
Over the years, competition had increased, particularly from “non-system suppliers”

Tetra Pak’s spare parts business was under attack from spare parts integrators

Spare parts were of compromised quality but compatible with Tetra Paks equipment

Manufacturers of other packaging technologies, such as PET bottles and glass

2. Advanced analytics

Interpret and communicate meaningful patterns and data that helps to deploy technicians faster

Data science team try to anticipate breakdown or failures before they occur

Identify folding problems in packaging through machine learning and image recognition

HoloLens augmented reality helps in consulting, guidelines

Three Digital Capabilities (cont.)
3. Connected solutions

Storing product as well as information on packaging

Customers scan QR to get information about product

MANAGING SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN 9

Supply Chain Control Tower
Demand consolidation through advanced planning system

Allocate capacity and production to different factories

APS help vendors to identify stock and production for vendors

Provide real time information for inbound and outbound shipments

Block chain & Prediction to Cognition
Block chain

Use block chain to improve product traceability

It securely offer consumer immediate access to information from processing till shelf life

Prediction to Cognition

Connected supply chain allow smarter, faster services to develop cognitive data capabilities

Predictions allow automated decisions with advanced analytics

n
The company should
developed its own
integrated system and
Non system suppliers also some innovative

Problem Action Plan
n
Choose a core location if
there is any problem in
the office area. Just like
companies setting servers

can affect the Supply Mirror Server  Install DRP (Disaster
Chain Efficiency Recovery Plan) on cloud
that immediately helps if
