Basic Network Utility
• NSLOOKUP
– NSLOOKUP => Name Server Lookup
– NSLOOKUP is a command line tool used to obtain the domain name to
IP mapping or any other DNS record
– It can be used to obtain results using any DNS server
– It can be used to obtain any type of DNS record by changing the query
type

How can I shift my emails to Nmail?
• Email Migration
– After the sign-up process is complete Systems Team provides two
options to the customer for email migration:

– Method 1: Webmail Access

• The customer has to login to our webmail using his credentials to
migrate his account to our server

• SMTP (port 25 and 587 or 465 for SSL)
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
(Used to send emails )
• POP (port 110 or 995 for SSL)
Post Office Protocol
(Used to retrieve emails from a remote server)
• IMAP (port 143 or 993 for SSL)
Internet Message Access Protocol
(Used to access emails from a remote server)

Spam
• Email spam, also known as junk email or unsolicited bulk email, is
sending nearly identical messages to numerous recipients by email.

• Nearly all the definitions of spam, include the aspect that email is
unsolicited and sent in bulk

• Clicking on links in spam email may send users to phishing web

sites or sites that are hosting malware.

• Spam email may also include some advertisement, malware as

scripts or other executable file attachments.

• Email Queuing is for customers who have deployed their
own email servers, if their server goes down their emails
will be queued on our server and delivered as it comes
back online
Email Relaying
Relaying is the act of accepting a message from a person’s email
client software (customer) and forwarding it towards its destination (any
server e.g. Gmail, Hotmail etc.).

To restrict the relay access to only those we know, we can use

• IP addresses of our clients

• Authentication before forwarding the message
(username and password based)
