• Application software refers to programs that enable

the user to be productive when using the computer.
perangkat lunak aplikasi mengacu ke program yang mengaktifkan
pengguna untuk;menjadi produktif bila menggunakan komputer.

Two categories of application programs:

Horizontal applications
Vertical applications

Horizontal applications– Are used across the divisions of a
company and are popular with consumers. horisontal applications–
digunakan melintasi bagian perusahaan dan populer di antara konsumen.

Most computer software is copyrighted, which means that an

individual can not copy, alter, or use software on more than
one computer. paling perangkat lunak komputer copyrighted, yang berarti

Types of copyrighted software:

Commercial– Buy before using it (membeli sebelum menggunakan ini )

Freeware– Free software, but it can’t be copied and sold (perangkat lunak

restrictions for using, copying, altering, and selling

Time-limited trial version– Program that can be

installed for free but will expire when the trial period
ends. (time-limited percobaan version– itu program dapat memasang untuk gratis tetapi

Beta version– A preliminary version of a program that is

being tested. (beta version– versi tahap permulaan itu program sedang menguji.)
Copy protected– A program with a protective measure
that prohibits unauthorized copies. (salin protected– program

A software license gives the user the right to install and

use the program on one computer. (izin perangkat lunak
memberikan pengguna hak untuk install dan gunakan program di satu komputer. )

Installing a program on more than one computer

requires a site license. (memasang program di lebih dari satu komputer

Software Version

Software producers include a version number with their products.

Version numbers are used to identify the release of the program
being used.
Recent releases have numbers greater than earlier releases
(Recent Ver. 6.0; Earlier Ver. 1.0).
Whole numbers are major revisions (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc.).
Decimal numbers refer to maintenance releases or updates and
fixes (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.).

 Integrated Programs
Standalone programs are individual applications that are designed
for a single purpose.(standalone program aplikasi sendiri itu didisain untuk tujuan tunggal.)
Examples: photo editing programs, encyclopedias, and games
Integrated programs are programs made up of several individual
programs. (menggabungkan program program membuat atas dari beberapa program sendiri.)
Examples: accounting software (databases and spreadsheets),
publishing software (word processing and graphics editing)
Software suites are two or more standalone programs that are
integrated with each other. Data entered in one program can be
inserted in the others. (sederetan perangkat lunak dua atau banyak standalone program itu
diintegrasikan satu sama lain. data masuk ke dalam satu program dapat menyisipkan di yang lainnya.)

Creating Documents
Creating new documents– Start a new blank document or choose a

into memory. Enables updating or editing the document.
