A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON
PLAN IN ENGLISH GRADE V
I-OBJECTIVES: at the end of the 60
minutes’ lesson, the pupils must have:
A.Identified the features of a poem,
B. Recite a poem faultlessly and nicely,
and
C. Compose a two paragraph poem.

2. Lesson Proper
A. Motivation
• The Teacher will let the pupils read a
poem. The Teacher will read it once and
the pupils will read it after their Teacher.
The pupils will participate by answering
the questions which is related to the poem
given by their Teacher after they read it.
The title of the poem is “MY SHADOW”
written by Loius Stevenson.
B.) Review
• The Teacher will ask the pupils whether
they could still remember their last topic.
Whether they learn in the previous lesson
and if they really understand the past
lesson. The pupils will participate by
telling the topic they tackled last meeting.
C.) Presentation
• The Teacher will introduce the topic
that they will be talking for today’s
discussion.
D.)Discussion
• The teacher will define what a poem is
and ask the pupils on their own opinion
about poems. The teacher will also tell
the students the special features of a
poem.
E.) Exercise
• The Teacher will ask the pupils some
questions about the topic they tackled
to see whether they really understood
the topic. Questions like “What is a
poem?” “What are the features of a
poem?” The pupils will participate by
answering the questions that was being
asked by the Teacher. 
F.) Application
• The Teacher will group the class into
five (5) groups, each group would read
a poem and that would be graded the
way they recite the poem according to
the rubrics.
G.) Generalization
• The Teacher would have a recap of the
topics that they tackled for today’s
discussions.
IV-EVALUATION
• The pupils are given a sheet of paper
having poem. After reading the poem
there are some questions that are
related to the poem they need to
answer. They will also be given a word
puzzle and look for a word that is
found in the poem and encircle it.
V-ASSIGNMENT
• The pupils will choose any theme and
would make a two paragraph poem
about a theme they choose. The poem
would be collected by the Teacher the
next meeting.
