INTRODUCTION

 In the revolution of miniature of computer scientists are

ahead with Bluetooth technology.
INTRODUCTION

 P-ISM (“Pen-style Personal Networking Gadget

Package”), which is under developing, stage by NEC
Corporation. .
 P-ISM is a gadget package including five functions: a
pen-style cellular phone with a handwriting data input
function, virtual keyboard, a very small projector,
camera scanner, and personal ID key with cashless pass
function.
 The Pen Size Computer contains only ROM and the
processor, which can perform all the tasks which we
perform normally on PC.
INTRODUCTION

 Developers are developing a Pen size computer. A size

which you can easily slip in a pocket when your work is
finished.
INTRODUCTION

 The pen will project a virtual keyboard and a monitor on

the surface on which it is kept and then when you press
keys it will recognize them via Bluetooth and do the
corresponding job for you.
HISTORY

 The conceptual prototype of the "pen" computer was

built in 2003. "Pen-style Personal Networking Gadget"
created in 2003 by Japanese technology company NEC.

 The designer of the 5 Pen Technology ,Toru Ichihash,

said that” In developing this concept he asked himself –
“What is the future of IT when it is small?” The pen was
a logical choice. He also wanted a product that you could
touch and feel. Further, the intent is to allow for an office
anywhere.”
COMPONENTS OF PEN PC
Block diagram of pen technology
CPU PEN:

 The functionality of the CPU is done by one of

the pen. It is also known as computing engine.
COMMUNICATION PEN

 P-ISMs are connected with one another through short-

range wireless technology. They are connected through
Tri-wireless modes (Blue tooth, 802.11B/G, and
Cellular) which are made small and kept in a small pen
like device.
VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

 A projection keyboard is a virtual

keyboard that can be projected and
touched on any surface.
 The keyboard watches finger
movements and translates them into
keystrokes in the device.
 Most systems can also function as a
virtual mouse or even as a virtual
piano.
VIRTUAL KEYBOARD
How a projection keyboard generally works:
 A laser or beamer projects visible virtual keyboard onto
level surface
 A sensor or camera in the projector picks up finger
movements, detected co-ordinates determine actions or
characters to be generated
DIGITAL CAMERA
 We had digital camera in the shape of pen .It is useful in
video recording, video conferencing, simply it is called as
web cam. It is also connected with other devices through
Blue tooth. It is a 360-Degree Visual Communication
Device.
SMALL PROJECTOR
 The role of monitor is taken by LED Projector which
projects on the screen. The size of the projector is of A4
size. It has the approximate resolution capacity of 1024
X 768. Thus it is gives more clarity and good picture.
BATTERY
 The most important part in the portable type of computer
is its battery. Usually batteries must be small in size and
work for longer time. It comes with a battery life of 6+.
For normal use it can be used for 2 weeks. The base
stand is act as charging device and also storage area.
GOOD AND BAD
 Good is the unit can be positioned or held the way it is
defined it works well.
 The bad aspect is that all like units are just that – alike

 And can easily misplaced.

COMPROMISES
 A surface is needed to make it functional.
