• Dance is an art performed by one or more people.


• It consists of series of movements of the parts of
the body

BALLET

Developed from the Italian renaissance, ballet is


a dance choreographed with classical music.
It is known for its steps which are composed of
light, graceful and fluid motions
BALLROOM

Ballroom dance is a genre of dance


that requires sets of dancers which are
usually between a male and a female.
Ballroom dance can be done socially
or competitively
CONTEMPORARY

With the word contemporary, this


genre of dance is developed during
the twentieth century.
Contemporary dance grown as one of
the most dominant genre of dance
HIP HOP

Hip hop dance is a genre of dance


developed in the streets of New York.
It is developed around early 1970’s
and is inspired by the African
dancing.
JAZZ

Jazz dance is a performance that


developed in the united states in the
mid twentieth century.
Two types of the jazz dance are
vernacular jazz and dramatic dance
TAP DANCE

Tap dance is a dance that utilizes the


movements of the feet to tap the floor.
Tap dancers uses shoes fitted with
heal and toe which helps them make
sounds when tapping the floor.
FOLK DANCE

Folk dance are dances that


emphasizes the day to day living of a
group of people living in a certain
country or region.
Not all ethnic dance are folk dance.
SWING

Swing is a popular dance genre that is


socially performed. It comes with a
joyful beats with steps such as lifts,
spin and flips.
MODERN DANCE

Modern dance is a broad genre of


dance that includes ballet, folk,
ethnic, religious and social dancing.
Modern dance is developed in Europe
and United states in the late 19th
century
CHEERLEADANCE
CHEERDANCE

Cheerdance came from the two words “cheer” and “dance” which basically
says to cheer and dance.
To cheer is to shout words while to dance is a series of body movements hence
cheerdancing is the combination of the two.
