LAMINATES

Laminate sheets are made by bonding together two or more

layers of materials. Laminate sheets from plastics are glued to
wood to make the surface aesthetic. These sheets are
manufactured by laminating different types of papers with
formaldehyde. The core sheet consists of Kraff
paper with phenol formaldehyde (PF) and below it, a barrier
paper is provided. Above the Kraff paper, a tissue paper is
impregnated with FF melamine formaldehyde (MF) resin is
provided which gives protection and also enhances abrasion
resistance. Then, these laminates are bonded to wooden
surfaces with suitable glue and pressing for some time
finishes the process.
APPLICATIONS OF LAMINATES

Laminate is a hard and brittle sheets having thickness around 1mm used
to overlay on wooden furniture's which gives furniture more fine and
attractive look. These Laminates are water resistant, abrasion resistant
and scratch resistant and gives decorative look to furniture.

Laminates are one of the most popular decorative materials that

are used for surfacing cabinets, furniture, walls, ceilings, external facades
and so on. The thickness of these laminates ranges between 0.6
millimetre to 1.5 millimetres, and they are available in the form of sheets
with a standard size of 8x4 feet.
APPLICATIONS OF PLYWOOD

-Floors, walls, and roofs in home constructions.

-Wind bracing panels.
-Vehicle internal bodywork.
-Packages and boxes.
-Fencing.
-Concrete shuttering panels.
-Ready-to-paint surfaces for constructions
Types of Laminates
There are different types of laminated sheets
available in India based on the manufacturing
process, usage, surface finish, thickness, and
advanced properties-

1. HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE (HPL)

2.LOW PRESSURE LAMINATES (LPL)
3.DECORATIVE LAMINATES
4.INDUSTRIAL LAMINATES
5.COMPACT LAMINATES
6.REGULAR LAMINATES
