•Shortage: is a situation in which there is not
enough of something or limitation in the
resources.
•Shortage of nursing: it’s mean nursing
profession continues to face deficiency of
nurses lead to lack of potential educators, high
turnover and inequitable distribution of the
workforce. The causes related to the nursing
shortage is a big issues and concern the global
health.

•Severe shortage of nursing


employees is a global problem and
concentrated in low-income
countries. However, low-income
countries have 0.7 nurse for every
1,000, but high-income countries
have 20 nurses for 1000 of
population.

•Culture, beliefs, tradition and religion affect
the healthcare system in Saudi Arabia. On
other hand the culture of society effect in
health care work where there is mixing with
other gender especially for women. However,
in the society there always conversation about
the work of women in the mixing gander area
in general. However, in the health care field it
is increasing pressure, especially in women
nurses.

There's an inferior view of nursing work
in the community. Due to the lack of
information, about the nursing
responsibilities about health care
provided, and why it’s importance.
Work environment
•Because of the shortage in nursing, nurses
work for long time with extra patients loads.
However, the female nurses work at night shift
with male gender. This lead to increase the
pressure on women nursing from family and
community to leave there work or change the
working area. The working environment is high
responsibility, very dangerous and infected
regrade to duration of communication with
patients. Nurses are work higher than other
health care areas.

•Level of education in nursing lead to
increase confidence in nursing staff.
However, there is improvement of
level of education in Saudi Arabia that
led to improve of quality of care.
Furthermore, it is encouraging a staff
nurse to be a maker of policy and
procurer.

Education for public can help to solve this
problems. However, focusing on youth
encourage them to be a nurse.
Furthermore, it help to change the
negative image that led in nursing.
Improvement of
workplace
The workplace should be improvement
and development to help nursing
reduces the stress and increasing
nursing satisfaction.
SUMMARY
•Shortage of nursing is a global problem.
However, the nursing power, minimizing
the time of work, salary increasing and
looking for nursing staff satisfactions can
help to reduce the shortage.
