VOLLEYBALL :
• Competitive sports in our country
• Dr. William G. Morgan created
volleyball on 1895 in Holyoke City,
Massachusetts, USA ( YMCA
Director)
• Being played during Winter time
HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF

• Was also played in innings, and it’s
name was “mintonette”
• Springfield college professor
suggested that it be called
“volleyball”
• 1897, the first set of rules was
published.

• The sport continued to grow through
the 1940’s and 1950’s
• In US, during that time it was purely
a recreational activity, a fun game.
• In 1964 volleyball is being part of
Olympic games
VOLLEYBALL
• Team sport in which two teams of six
players are separated by a net and a
maximum of 12 players each team.
Each team tries to score points by
grounding a ball on the other team’s
court under organized rules.
