IB Mathematics Standard Level

Goals:
 Know and use mathematical concepts and principles.
 Read, interpret, and solve a given problem using appropriate mathematical
terms.

 Know and use appropriate notation and terminology
 Select and use appropriate mathematical strategies and techniques
 Recognize patterns
 Use appropriate technological devices as mathematical tools

Course Grading:

3 Categories

 Tests (summative assessment given at the end of each


unit): 50%
 Quiz (given each class as formative assessment): 30%
 Warm-ups/Exit tickets (given each class as a CFU): 20%
IB Assessments

Internal Assessment
 Also called Math Exploration (20%)
 Independent out-of-school project with a written report (2000 words)
 Should provide an evidence of solid understanding of course objectives
 Should show extensions to the concepts covered by the course
 rubric provided (personal engagement is a big part)
 introduced at the end of 1st quarter
 rough draft due at the beginning of 3rd quarter (January)
 feedback provided within 2 weeks of submission
 final draft due in the 2nd week of February (tentative)
 Total Points : 20% of overall IB math grade
