Bulb
An electrical device used to determine
whether or not electricity is flowing.
In circuit diagrams components are represented by
the following symbols;
S e r i e s C i rc u i t
• A series circuit connects the components one
after the other
• A single loop is formed
• A break in any part of a series circuit stops the
flow of current in the whole circuit.
P a r a l l e l C i rc u i t
• A parallel circuit divides into two or more branches.
• The current divides and flows through each parallel
branch.
• If a component breaks or is removed, the other
components remain on.

• R =R1 + R2
The resistance for this circuit is:
2+3=5
Given
• 3 V, 2 V, 5 V Find the I
• 2
Formula VT= V1+ V2 + V3 and I = V/R
Solution
VT=3V + 2 V+ 5 V= 10 V
I= 10V / 2 = 5 A
Answer= 5 A
Given
• 8A , 12 A , 30 A Find the R
• 500V
Formula IT= I1+ I2 + I3 and R = V/I
Solution
IT=8A + 12 A+ 30 A= 50 A
R= 500 V / 50 A= 10
Answer= 10
