 MAIN THEMES OF THE HOLY QURAN

 GOD
• Tawhid means that Allah is one and the sole supreme
lord of the universe.
• He is omnipotent, omnipresent and the sustainer of the
world and of mankind.
ِ ‫إِ َّن إِلَ َه ُك ْم لَ َو‬
• ‫اح ٌد‬
• Indeed your god is surely one. 37:4)
• Allah(SWT) is transcendental(above vision of man ).
• ۱۰۳‫ارانعام‬ َ ‫ص‬ َ ‫صا ُر َو ُه َو يُ ْد ِر ُك اأْل َ ْب‬
َ ‫اَل تُ ْد ِر ُكهُ اأْل َ ْب‬
• Every thing is subservient to Him because every thing
owes his existence to him.
)‫بقرہ‬29( ً ‫ض َج ِميعا‬ ِ ‫ق لَ ُك ْم َما فِي األَ ْر‬
َ َ‫• هُ َو الَّ ِذي َخل‬
 MAN
• He created man from nothingness  ((4‫عدم‬
)1‫ش ْيئا ً َم ْذ ُكوراً (االنسان‬
َ ْ‫ين ِم َن ال َّد ْه ِر لَ ْم يَ ُكن‬
ٌ ‫ان ِح‬
ِ ‫س‬َ ‫اإلن‬ِ ‫• َه ْل أَتَى َعلَى‬
• The Holy Quran declares man as khalifa.
)30: ‫ض َخلِيفَةً (بقرہ‬ ِ ‫• َوإِ ْذ قَا َل َر ُّب َك لِ ْل َمال ِئ َك ِة إِنِّي َجا ِع ٌل ِفي األَ ْر‬
• “And when the lord said unto the angels: lo! I am
about to place a khalifa (vicegerent) in the earth.”
• Every man is Allah’s Khalifa on earth . He is fulfilling
one mission or the other on this earth on His behalf.
• Allah has breathed into him his own spirit.
َ‫سا ِجدِين‬ َ ‫ت فِي ِه مِنْ ُروحِي َف َق ُعوا َل ُه‬ ُ ‫س َّو ْي ُت ُه َو َن َف ْخ‬
َ ‫• َفإِ َذا‬
• All men are equal.
‫• يَا أَ ُّيهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا َخلَ ْقنَا ُك ْم ِم ْن َذ َك ٍر َوأُنثَى َو َج َع ْلنَا ُك ْم ُشعُوبا ً َوقَبَائِ َل لِتَ َعا َرفُوا إِ َّن أَ ْك َر َم ُك ْم‬
):13‫ِع ْن َد هَّللا ِ أَ ْتقَا ُك ْم إِ َّن هَّللا َ َعلِي ٌم َخبِي ٌر الحجرات‬
• “o mankind, we have created you from a male and
female and made you into tribes and nations so that you
may know one another. The most noble of you before
god is the most god-conscious of you.”
• All men are dignified and honourable :-
)70:‫• َولَقَ ْد َك َّر ْمنَا بَنِي آ َد َم (اإلسراء‬
• “We have indeed conferred dignity on the children of adam,”
(emphasis added).
• Man is responsible to his creator for his action.
‫المؤمنون‬115( ‫ُون‬ َ ‫• أَ َف َح ِس ْب ُت ْم أَ َّن َما َخ َل ْق َنا ُك ْم َع َب ًثا َوأَ َّن ُك ْم إِ َل ْي َنا اَل ُترْ َجع‬
• Unity of Matter and Spirit.
• No division of life into watertight compartments
of matter and spirit.
• No asceticism.
• It holds that spiritual elevation is to be achieved
by living piously in the society.

۲۰۱﴿﴾
• "Our Lord! Give us something fine in this world as
well as something fine in the Hereafter." (2:201)
• Hadith"A Muslim who lives in the midst of
society and bears with patience the
afflictions that come to him is better than the
one who shuns society and cannot bear any
wrong done to him."
• "Keep fast and break it (at the proper time)
and stand in prayer and devotion (in the
night) and have sleep - for your body has its
rights over you, and your eyes rights over
you, and your wife has a claim upon you,
and the person who pays a visit to you has a
claim upon you?
 UNIVERSE
• It is not self created.
• God (Allah) created the universe ex
nihilo.
• It is not functioning independently. The
world is a closed system insofar as
nothing happens in the world outside of
his divine decrees.
• There is no bifurcation of the world.
• Hence, the main theme that runs
throughout the Quran is that God alone
deserves worship and, thus, man
should submit to God’s laws in his
personal life and in his relationships
with creation in general.
