Introduction
• SATRACK is the acronym for SATellite
SAT missile
TRACKing system
• SATRACK is an evaluation methodology developed
for the guidance system of the ballistic missiles.
• It is used for error evaluation and missile accuracy
.
Need for SATRACK
• Early guidance systems were based on the radars
which is now replaced by GPS.
• Precise error measurements and accuracy were the
main contributions made by the GPS SATRACK.
• It has an extensive Post Flight Processing capability
MODULES of SATRACK
• GPS Translator
•Telemetry Ground station
•Post Flight Processing
Overview of SATRACK System
GPS Positioning
GPS Constellation
Trilateration
GPS SIGNALS
• Satellite signals are transmitted at two
frequencies:
L1 -1575.42MHz
L2 -1227.60MHz
• The use of two signals is to allow
refraction errors through the ionosphere.
• Modulation Techniques used is BPSK
• Two types of modulation codes are used:
- P-code
- C/A code
Hardware used in Translator and
ground station
POST FLIGHT TRACKING AND
DATA PROCESSING
Conclusion
SATRACK is a noteworthy contributor to the successful
development and operational success of the trident weapons
system. It provides a unique monitoring function that is
critical to the maintenance of strategic weapons systems.
SATRACK will continue to support the Navy’s strategic
weapon system operations and evolution for the foreseeable
future.
