Learners from indigenous groups IP learners are truly

unique group of learners.

Education for them is not just acquiring competencies

stipulated in the K to 12 curriculum but they have that
unique need of preserving Indigenous Knowledge System
and Practices (IKSPs). This was clearly stipulated in the
policy statement of Do. 62, s. 2011 letter a which states
that IPED shall, “adopt appropriate basic education
pedagogy, content, and assessment through the
integration of Indigenous Knowledge System and Practices
(IKSPs) in all learning areas and processes
In dealing with IP learners, there is a need to highlight
the relationship between learning and the student
group’s history and culture, thus contextualized
learning plays a very critical role in the learning
process.
