DEFINITION OF SELF EFFICACY
• According to Maulana (2019), self-efficacy is an
individual's belief or confidence regarding his ability
to organize, perform a task, achieve a goal,
produce something and implement actions to
achieve certain skills.
• According to Santrock (2007) it is a person's belief
in his/her ability to control situations and produce
something productive or profitable.
• Niu (2010) states that self-efficacy is the result of the
interaction between the external environment,
adjustment mechanisms and personal abilities,
experience and education

WHY DO WE HAVE TO BUILD SELF EFFICACY

?
• Bandura (1986) states that self-efficacy refers to an indivi-
dual's belief in his or her ability to succeed in doing something.
• There are four reasons why a person can have high or low
self-efficacy, those are:
1. Previous experience  if you succeed in doing something
with minimal effort, then your self-efficacy at something will
be high
2. Experiences that you feel yourself  self-efficacy can be
influenced by comparisons between you and others.

up, Child! If you get stuck doing something, your parents will
continue to cheer you up and smile, saying "you can do it" –
how then would you feel?
4. Psychological effects People with high self-efficacy are not
only confident; they are also introspective. They also plan ac-
tions to cover up their shortcomings so that they can meet the
target set.

SELF EFFICACY BUILDING STRATEGY

• An expert named Tom Senninger (2000) develop-

ped a model called the Learning Zone model.
• Learning zone  adventurous experience where
we usually grow and learn.
• Outside the learning zone lies the panic zone
learning is impossible because it is hindered by
fear
• You can actually expand your comfort zone through
repeated trips to the learning zone.
• One method of doing this is by simply learning to
focus on learning one new idea or technique at a
time.
