SAFETY INDUSTRY

The safety organizations is designed to provide leadership and guidance


to corporations, small business, schools, cities, and government agencies.

Safety organizations are tasked with protecting the public through the
efforts of fire and police departments, terrorism task forces, and
environmental agencies.

One of the most important responsibilities of safety organizations is the


promotion of safe working conditions.

Executive management, operations management and workers also have


roles to play in establishing and maintaining a safe working environment.
HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE

The Health and Safety


Executive (HSE) is a UK government
agency responsible for the
encouragement, regulation and
enforcement of workplace health, safety
and welfare, and for research into
occupational risks.
STRUCTURE AND RSPONSIBILITIES

HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE, SCIENCE DIVISION

The Health and Safety Executive Science Division employs


over 350 people including scientists, engineers,
psychologists, social scientists, health professionals, and
technical specialists.
It was established under the Safety in Mines Research Board
to carry out large-scale tests related to mining hazards.
It now operates as an agency carrying out scientific research
and investigations for the HSE, other government agencies
and the private sector.
HM INSPECTORATE OF MINES

HM Inspectorate of Mines is responsible for the correct


implementation and inspection of safe working
procedures within all mine workings.
OFFSHORE SAFETY DIVISION

The Offshore Safety Division's initial responsibilities


included the establishment of the Safety Case
Regulations; a thorough review of existing safety
legislation and the move towards a goal setting
regulatory regime.
OSHCR

The HSE currently administrates the Occupational


Safety & Health Consultants Register (OSHCR), a
central register of registered safety consultants within
the United Kingdom.
The intention of the HSE is to pass responsibility of
operating the register to the relevant trade &
professional bodies once the register is up and running.
THE MANAGING DIRECTOR

The Managing Director is responsible for the overall


arrangements and for ensuring that the company’s
operations are executed at all times in such a manner as
to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health,
safety and welfare of all employees and others who may
be affected by its operations.
DIRECTOR RESPONSIBLE FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Director Responsible for Health and Safety is


accountable to the Managing Director for all matters
relating to health, safety and welfare of employees and
those affected by the companies operations.
SAFETY MANAGER

The primary role of the Safety Manager is to advise the


Directors and Managers on all safety, health and welfare
matters to ensure the Company complies with its statutory
obligations.

The Safety Manager is designated responsibility by the


Director responsible for health and safety to control and
update this Safety Manual and to ensure that all Departments
operate to the procedures and instructions contained there.
MANAGERS/HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT

Each Manager/Department Head is responsible for his


personal safety and that of all personnel under his or her
authority, including others who may be affected by the
company’s activities.
MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
MANAGER

The Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Manager is


responsible for his personal safety and that of all
personnel under his authority, including others who may
be affected by the company’s activities.
SUB-CONTRACTORS

All Sub-Contractors must comply with the aims of this policy as a


condition of their sub contract and will be required to forward a copy
of their Safety Policy and Safety plan for the work for scrutiny.

Every Sub-Contractor will be responsible for providing his employees


with all necessary personal protective clothing and equipment.

Sub-Contractors will ensure that they maintain their workplaces in a


safe condition and that their storage areas are kept clean, tidy and free
from hazards.
 
ALL EMPLOYEES

The Company reminds employees of their duties to take care


for their own health and safety and that of others who may be
affected by their acts or omissions. Additionally, employees
must also co-operate with the company to enable it to
discharge its own responsibilities successfully.

 All employees are expected to carry out assigned tasks and


duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and
to comply with safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes
of practice.
