Inclusion Programs

What it mean to be include?

We live in a society where children with disabilities are
often not allowed to interact or assist regular schools.
Children with disabilities must have the opportunity to
live together and have the same experiences as normal
children.

"Haring and McCormick (1994) point out," separating

young children with handicaps [disabilities] from ordinary
experiences creates distance, misunderstanding, and
rejection "(page 10).

The best centers are those that give children with or
without disabilities the opportunity to develop teacher-child
interaction and materials that will help them develop,
formal and informal activities. Above all, teachers who
understand the irregularities of the development of the
children they have in their classrooms. "Play with typically
developing children must be an integral part of any
program designed to promote healthy development (Lieber,
Schwartz, Sandall, Horn, & Ashworth Wolery, 2003; Wol-
very & Wilbers, 1994)"( page 10).
Is important to remember that by including different
cultures, languages and children with disability we are given
children’s the opportunity to learn and interact with one and
each other.
