INTRODUCTION
• KLT Automotive and Tubular products limited
is the best in class India based manufacturer
for automotive products, precision tubes,
chassis frames, chassis components and body
components/assemblies.
• It was laid by Late K L Thakkar and later
directed by Late Bhavin K. Thakkar, Mr. Jubin
K. Thakkar and Mrs. Sushila K. Thakkar.
DISCRIPTION
• The project is based on the slitter plant
located in KLT Automotive and Tubular
products, Shelvali.
• It consists of the Main components,
operations, pressure, raw material color
coding, problems and it’s solutions
SLITTER
• Coil slitting is the
shearing operation that
cuts a large roll of
material into narrower
rolls.
MAIN COMPONENT
• UNCOILER
• FLATTNER ROLL and PINCH ROLL
• HYDRAULIC SHEAR
• SLITTER HARBOR
• SCRAP WINDER
• LOOP PIT
• HYDRAULIC SHEAR 2
• RECOILER
UNCOILER
• The uncoiler unwinds
the coil. It consists of
two sides 1.Drive side 2.
Operator Side. It holds
the coil with it’s four
jaw chuck on both
sides. Pneumatic
Braking system is used
in uncoiler.
FLATTER ROLL AND PINCH ROLL
• Unwinded coil has is
curved and for further
process it need to flat
hence it is passed
through flatter roll and
pinch roll. Flatter roll
and Pinch roll works on
Hydraulic pressure.
HYDRAULIC SHEAR
• Function of Hyd. Shear
is cutting the sheet
metal of any desired
length. It works on
hydraulic pressure.
Cutting tools is placed
on it.
SLITTER HARBOR
• The function of slitter
harbor is to cut the
mother coil into narrow
sheets as per the
requirement of the
customer. It has two
rollers rotating in
opposite direction to
each other on which
cutter and spacers are
placed.
SCRAP WINDER
• After the amount is cut
the small amount which
is leftover is scrap.
Scrap Winder is placed
on both sides which
works on the principle
of bobbins. It winds the
scrap extracted from
both sides.
LOOP PIT
• The material is looped
after slitting for
maintaining a constant
tension between the
slits hence loop pit is
necessary before the
rewinding.
HYDRAULIC SHEAR 2
• It is for applying
pressure on the slits for
perfecting rewinding. It
is a pressure pad which
works on the hydraulic
pressure.
RECOILER
• The recoiler winds the
slitted coil. The recoiler
can expands and
contracts according to
the thickness of the
sheet. Pneumatic
braking is used in
recoiler.
OPERATION
• The mother coil is placed on car coil by the crane.
• The car coil delivers the coil till the uncoiler, the uncoiler loads the coil on
it.
• Uncoiler starts unwinding in the mean time hold downroll and peeler table
gives direction to the coil to reach the flatter roll.
• After the coil is pass through the flatter roll it is passed through pinch roll.
• The coil is then passed through the Hyd. Shear where it can be cut in any
desired length or it is further passed to slitter harbor.
• Slitter harbor cuts the mother coil into narrower coils.
• Through conveyer the slitted coil is passed through loop table and pressure
pad to recoiler.
• Recoiler rewinding the coil and later it is packed and unloaded from
recoiler.

TOOL DAMAGE PROBLEMS
• Include poor edge quality, edge burr, edge
wave, camber, crossbow, knife marks, and slit
width that is out of specification. 
SOLUTIONS
• Check for any oil leakage
• Check for emergency units
• Check for shearing pressure
• Check for compressor to be started
• Check for oil level in oil tank
• Check for oil level at shear cutter
• Check for water level in cooling tower
