Types of Entrepreneurs

1) ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF BUSINESS

i)Business entrepreneurs:-who start business units after


developing ideas for new products/services.

ii)Trading entrepreneurs :-who undertake buying & selling of


goods, but not engage in manufacturing.

iii)Corporate entrepreneurs:-who establish and manage corporate


form of organization which have separate legal existence.
iv)Agricultural entrepreneurs:- who undertake
activities like raising and marketing of crops,
fertilizers and other allied activities.

v)Industrial entrepreneurs:- who identifies the


need of the product on the market and fulfills the
need as per requirement by making some new
product.
2) ON THE BASIS OF STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT

i)First generation entrepreneurs:-who do not possess any


entrepreneurial background. They start industry by their own
innovative skills.

ii)Second generation entrepreneurs:-who inherit the family


business and pass to next generation.

iii)Classical entrepreneurs:-who aims to maximize his


economic returns at a level consistent with the survival of the
unit with or without an element of growth.

iv) Modern entrepreneurs:- who takes venture that will go well


along with the changing demand in the market and serve the
current needs of the market.
3)ON THE BASIS OF MOTIVATION

i)Pure entrepreneurs:-who are basically motivated to become


entrepreneurs for their personal satisfaction, ego etc..

ii)Induced entrepreneurs:- who are induced to take up


entrepreneurial role by the assistance and policy of government
including incentives, subsidies etc.

iii)Motivated entrepreneurs:- who are motivated by the desire of


self-fulfillment. They come into business because of the
possibility of marketing and making new products for customers
use and are motivated by the reward in terms of profits.

iv)Spontaneous entrepreneurs:- who start business on the basis


of their natural talents. They are persons with initiative, boldness
and have confidence which motivates them.
4) ON THE BASIS OF TECHNOLOGY

i)Technical entrepreneurs:- who are task oriented and


‘craftsman type’. They concentrate on production than on
marketing.

ii)Non-technical entrepreneurs:- who are not concerned


with technical side, but rather with marketing and
distribution strategies to promote their business.

iii)Professional entrepreneurs:- who start a business unit,


but later sell the running business and start a new unit
later. He is a person who is interested in establishing
business but is not interested in managing or operating it
once it gets established.
5)ON THE BASIS OF CAPITAL OWNERSHIP

i)Private entrepreneurs:- individual or group set up


enterprise, arrange finance, share risk etc..

ii)Public entrepreneurs:- means the trading or


industrial venture undertaken by the state or the
government itself.

iii)Joint entrepreneurs:- the combination of private and


government entrepreneurs.
6) According to Growth

i)Growth entrepreneurs:- are those who take up high


growth industry with a prospect for substantial growth.
They are always positive thinkers and don’t give up easily.

ii)Super-Growth entrepreneurs:- they show enormous


growth performance in their venture.
7)ON THE BASIS OF Clarence Danhof

i) Innovative entrepreneurs:-are the ones who assembles


information and introduces a new product.

ii)Imitative entrepreneurs:- also called as adoptive entrepreneurs.


They adopts successful innovation introduced by other
innovators.

iii)Fabian entrepreneurs:- are timid and cautious. They imitate


others innovations only if they have a fear that failure to do so
many damage their business.

iv)Drone entrepreneurs:- this type of entrepreneurs have


entrepreneurial activity restricted to just one or two innovations.
They are not ready to adopt to new changes.
