Why Recycle & its Strategic Advantages

 Reduce Land fill and become an Environmentally Friendly

country.
 Recycle waste and turn annual land fill cost into big profit.

 Creation of new local jobs.

 Trade growth increases.

 Government will meet its target for recycling & recovery if any.

 Future support for the industry-use reprocessed material

with prime virgin material.

Environmental Industries Sector Unit

Why Export ?

 Lack of resources in recycling/reprocessing through the region in

post consumer and post commercial sector.
 Export cover major part to achieve the Government recycling
and recovery targets.
 More and more growth in the packaging industry as compared to
the recycling facilities in the region.
 Price attraction and demand from the growing Far Eastern Market
as compared to the return in recycling from the local market.
 Globally extremely Cheap freight costs to the Far East.
Highly cost effective for the shipping lines to fill containers with
recyclable waste then taking back empty.

Exporting Issues and Risks + EC controls on Exports
of Green List Waste to non-OECD Countries

EU Commission Regulations (801/2007/EC) on the Green List

materials came out in July 07.
 Loads may be rejected during the random inspection at the country of
Origin or at the port of dest’n if not described as per Basel convention.
 If rejected – loads are shipped back to port of origin for sorting.
Main Reasons for Rejection of Loads

 Food or medical waste contamination, loads not as described,

unsorted commingled waste.
 Inadequate documentation. Like Anx. V11 is not completed.

Threats To The Export Market/ Encourage
Local Recycling
There will be a point when it is no longer cost effective for the demanding
countries like India and Fareastern Market to import waste from EC/US.

 Local collection will increase.

 Enough Availability of the Virgin polymers worldwide. At present
shortage to meet the demand of the industry.
 Oil price drop so Virgin polymer price will drop.
 Recycled polymer will have no attraction to the end user if the price
gap is not good enough as compared to Virgin polymer.
 Well sorted waste will be preferred e.g.in today's market from Japan
& Korea as compared to US and Europe.

Educate and train the officials & management staff.
On the job/off the job training for the inspection and Quality control of waste
materials in accordance with international environmental standards.
We can develop Waste management sites in the most economical standard with
larger output.
We Will develop unique on site, bespoke recycling systems for businesses to make
it more profitable.
We can help in formulation of legislations concerning global environmental issue
vis a vis local contribution.
