Sunnah
• In Islam, the Qur’an and the Hadith & Sunnah
of the Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬are primary
sources of Islamic teachings. The Hadith &
Sunnah is contained in the authentic Hadith
Books for the guidance of Muslims around the
globe. The Qur’an and Hadith provides insight
into the complete way of life for practice and
getting benefits in both worlds. The Qur’an and
Sunnah is the only way to be successful in this
world and the Hereafter.

• Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.) said: (‫ َان‬9‫ي هَّللا ِ صلى هللا عليه وسلم َك‬9ِّ ِ‫ب‬9 َ‫لُ َق ن‬9‫إِ َّن ُخ‬999‫َف‬
ْ “The character of the Messenger of Allah‫) )ﷺ‬
‫ن‬9َ ‫لقُ ْرآ‬99‫)ا‬
was the Qur'an” (Muslim, 1773). The Qur’an declares the

َ ‫)ح‬ َ “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah [Muhammad
(‫ ])ﷺ‬you have an excellent example to follow”
(33:21). Muslims are obliged to follow Prophet’s
‫ ))ﷺ‬teachings and exalted model for
understanding and practicing the teachings of the Holy
Qur’an. The Qur’an contains the commands of the
prayer, fasting, hajj, and zakat while the Ahadith
provide their description and details and practical

1. The follower of the Sunnah will enter into
the Paradise and disobedience of Sunnah will
be the cause of entrance into the Hell-Fire.

• Allah’s Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "All my
followers will enter Paradise except those who
refuse." They said, "O Allah's Messenger
(‫ )ﷺ‬Who will refuse?" He said,
"Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and
whoever disobeys me is the one who refuses (to

2. The obedience of the Messenger of
Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬is considered as the obedience
of Allah Almighty. Therefore, Muslims
are recommended to obey the Prophetic
Hadith and Sunnah for the obedience of
Allah Almighty. Allah’s Messenger (‫)ﷺ‬
said:

• "Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, and
whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah.”
(Bukhari, 7137).

3. The Hadith & Sunnah protect Muslims from
wrong path and going astray. The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said:

• “I have left two matters with you. As long as you
hold to them, you will not go the wrong way. They
are the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His
Prophet.” (Muwatta Imam Malik, 1628).

which if you hold fast to it, you shall not go astray:

4. The Hadith & Sunnah guides Muslims towards
success at the time of disagreement. The Prophet (‫)ﷺ‬
said:

‫ين‬ ِ َ‫ير فَعلَ ْي ُكم ِبس َّن ِتي وس َّن ِة ا ْل ُخلَف‬

» ‫ضالَ لَ ٌة‬ َ ‫فَِإ َّن ُك َّل ُم ْح َدثَ ٍة ِب ْد َع ٌة َو ُك َّل ِب ْد َع ٍة‬
• “I enjoin you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey even
if it be an Abyssinian slave, for those of you who live
after me will see great disagreement. You must then
follow my Sunnah and that of the rightly-guided
caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties,
for every novelty is an innovation, and every
innovation is an error.” (Abu Dawud, 4590).

5. The revival of Hadith & Sunnah contains great and
ongoing rewards for the followers. The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said:

• “Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine, which people
then act upon, will have a reward equivalent to that
of those who act upon it, without that detracting
from their reward in the slightest. And whoever
introduces an innovation (Bid'ah) that is acted upon,
will have a burden of sins equivalent to that of those
who act upon it, without that detracting from the
burden of those who act upon it in the slightest.” (Ibn
Majah, 209).

6. The teaching and preaching of Hadith &
Sunnah contains great rewards its followers.
The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said:

ٍ ‫ام ِل ِف ْق ٍه لَ ْيس ِبفَ ِق‬
» ‫يه‬ ِ‫بح‬ ِ ‫ِف ْق ٍه إِلَى‬
َ َ ُ َ ُ ‫َم ْن ُه َو أَ ْفقَ ُه‬
َّ ‫ر‬‫و‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ن‬
ْ ‫م‬
• “May Allah brighten a man who hears a
tradition from us, gets it by heart and passes
it on to others. Many a bearer of knowledge
conveys it to one who is more versed than he
is; and many a bearer of knowledge is not
versed in it.” (Abu Dawud, 3660).
