Summery:
•This project is made to understand, experience and to explain the practical knowledge as
students of principle of agriculture Marketing how much we have learned during this course and
it’s a try to create a revolution in agriculture sector of Pakistan It explains how can fulfill the gap
between farmers and universities.
•We visited 8 districts of province Sindh and Punjab
•Collect data from farmers face to face asked about their problems related marketing their
agriculture goods.
•We analyzed major and minor crops of each district

Shadadkot

• District Shadadkot is a District of Sindh. In district


Shadadkot mostly farmer are growing major crops such as
rice and wheat. Such kind of crops for their earning and as
well as living purpose. As Agriculture perspective Sukkur
barrage is the main source of irrigation in this district.
Agriculture is mainly dependent upon canal irrigation in
this district, tube wells and river irrigation are also used.
Major Commodities (crops,
vegetables & fruits)

• Wheat and Rice are the major crops of district Shadadkot.


Fruits are not much grown in this district.
• The fruits such as dates, guava and mango as rarely
growing in this district,
• There are vegetables growing but mostly in limited areas.
People don’t growing Vegetable for commercial but grow
for their own consumption.

Ghotki

• Ghotki is an industrial area in the Sindh province. Local companies based


in Ghotki include OGDCL, Engro Fertilizers, Fauji Fertilizers (formerly
Pak Saudi Fertilizer).
• The region is also famous for its mangoes, vegetables, and abundance of
date trees. The important products of Ghotki includes cotton, wheat, sugar,
rice, milk, poultry etc.
Major crops of Ghotki
• Major crops of Ghotki are Wheat, Rice, Cotton and Sugarcane
Wheat
• Wheat is the major crop of district . Average productivity is
26.3 mounds/acre. Maximum 60 mounds and minimum 6
Mounds/acre.
Rice
• About20% farmers are cultivating rice in Ghotki the average per acre
production Is 31 mounds. Mostly farmers purchase seed from the market.
Nowadays rice cultivation is banned due to waterlogging issues in
Ghotki
• Cotton: Almost 25 to 30% FARMERS cultivating
cotton in district with average yield 27.5 acre/mound.
• Dates: In district Ghotki mostly fruits are grown at
small level and mostly consumed by the farmers. But
Dates are grow for selling.

Jhang
introduction

• Jhang District is a district of Punjab province of Pakistan.


The city of Jhang is the district's capital. In 2009 the tehsil
of Chiniot became the separate Chiniot District.
• Jhang District was agricultural region with forests during
the Indus Valley Civilization.

Major crops of Sukkur District

• Pakistan is agriculture country


• we are blessed with variety of seasons in Pakistan’s
• more than 20% of the country’s GDP and agriculture employs the population of
Pakistan.
• Lack of information and lack of knowledge of markets impacting in our farmers.
• Sukkur district majority of the farmer depends on nourishment.
• 31% farmer of the Sukkur district is those who own less than 5 acres of land.
• 34% are those who have 12.5 acres of land.
• There are wheat, rice, cotton and sugarcane major crops which are cultivated in
Sukkur district. some farmer is cultivating fruits like dates, banana and mangoes.
Major Crop
• Wheat: is the major crop of Sukkur district with 1.5 million ton. Average productivity is 50
mounds/acre. Maximum 60 mounds and minimum 6 Mounds/acre.

• Rice: About 50 to 60% farmer cultivating rice in Sukkur the average per acre production Is 31
mounds.

• Cotton:Almost 25 to 30% FARMERS cultivating cotton in Sukkur district with average yield
27.5 acre/mound.

• Dates: it is general and most commonly produce of Sukkur.


• Manago: it also cultivated here maximum level

Hyderabad

• Hyderabad is leading from urban population density per km2


in Pakistan, and second in the world with 40,000 people per km2
where it is 2nd largest urban city of Sindh, and 6th of the country.
• In which 3508 acres of agricultural land converted followed by
Latifabad sub-district with 1064 acres, Hyderabad city sub-district
with 562 acres and Hyderabad rural sub-district with 342 acres.
• Normally products are sells through simple and tradition techniques
of bidding in the market at early morning from where the retailers
purchases in bulk quantity from the commission agents and from
whole sellers and then they display the products at their own shops
and carts.
Major Crops of Hyderabad, Production & Marketing

There are 4 major crops, which are mostly cultivated in Hyderabad in which rice, wheat,
cotton and sugarcane are included.
rice (15 April – 15 may),
wheat (1st November – 20 November),
cotton (May) and sugarcane (10th February -30th march).
Total production and the area for cultivation for major crops is: rice (3.5 tons on 1.1
hectares), cotton (41.3 tons on 6.6 hectares), wheat (51 m/acre) and sugarcane (313.7 tons
on 5.8 hectares). Cost for the producing of wheat is Rs. 11,334/- per acre with minimum
and maximum of Rs. 2,500/- to Rs. 20,500/-.
Total per acre expenditure for cultivating sugar cane worked out to be Rs 34568 against the
last year's Rs 32750, an increase of 5.55 per cent.

Analysis Report on district
Sanghar
Introduction

• District Sanghar, is one of the largest districts of Sindh province. Mainly, its agricultural
industry-based district.
• It is located in between two well-known districts of Sindh- Mirpur Khass & Nawabshah.
• Major cities of the district are; Shahdadpur, Tando Adam, Sanghar, Shahpur Chakkar, Sinjhoro,
Khipro, & Jam Nawaz Ali
• Shahdadpur is famous at its Banana production in the country, and Tando Adam at its Banana as
well as Mango farming in fruits category.
• This is a multiple cropping area, growing Cotton, Sugarcane, coarse grains, vegetables, chilies,
tomatoes and Rice.
• The major fruits in this area include Mango (Shahdadpur & TandoAdam), Banana (Shahdadpur),
Falsa (Shahdadpur), Citrus (Shahpur Chakar & TandoAdam), melons and others.
Major Crops

• In Sanghar, cotton production is the major one crop after wheat & sugarcane. Cotton produces
on approx. 215k hectares. 29% cotton is produced in the province by dist. Sanghar, at its 1st
position.
• Sugarcane produced on 17k hectares in Sanghar.
• Wheat, its per hectare yield is about 4000kgs per hectares. Area cultivated in Rabi season for
wheat is about 120-25hectares annually. After 2016/17, its production declined because of late
sowing, in respected years it was about six million tons.
• In fruits:
• Banana produced on 2-3000 hectares in Sanghar.
• Mango,
• In vegetables:
• Chilies, on 14-1600 hectares every year. But per hectare yield is about 100mounds per 5acres.
• Red carrots, about 1000 hectares
• Cauliflower, its unknown but we have asked from some farmers that it is produced on about less
than 200 hectares in Sanghar.
• Onion, In Sindh, Sanghar is the 2nd largest largest district in producing Onions every year after
Hyderabad. After sowing, its average per acre yield is about 11 to 13tons per acre. Rates are
varying every year
Minor Crops

• Pulses, are very rare after 2010, only produced on 196hectares in Sanghar.
• Rice is also a minor crop in Sanghar annual cultivation of Rice in dist. Is on about
less 1400 hectares.
• Maize is also a rare in Sanghar, its totally diminishing in dist., in 2016 it was
produced on total 170 hectares.
• Bajra is also diminishing in the dist. Cultivation is on about less than 1k hectares.
• In all pulses its about 2k hectares area is cultivated in the dist. And production is
about more than 1000m tons, average 400kgs per hectares
District Nausharo
Feroze
introduction

• District Nausharo Feroze has its district headquarters in Nausharo faro city.
This district has five talukas, named: Nausharo Feroze, Bharia, Digri,
Moro, Kandiaro and Mhrabpur.
• The land structure of this district comprise of plain fertile lands suitable for
agriculture.

District khairpur
Agriculture introduction

• Khairpur has fertile lands and are enriched in agriculture


productivity. The soil is suitable for many cash crops
including cotton, dates and sugarcane.
• The main crops of Rabi season are wheat and gram, and
during Kharif season, cotton, oil seeds and sugarcane are
cultivated.

• The main vegetable are onions lady finger tomatoes and

• The trends, area and productions, for major crops are given
as under.
Fruits

• The main fruits produced are dates, banana, mangoes,


guavas, orange, and lemon. The orchards are mainly
located in Khairpur, Garmbat and Kotdiji talukas.
• The district is famous for the date palms. A research
institute has been established, in Shah Abdul Latif
University Khairpur, to conduct research on different
aspects of date palms.
Issues

• Water shortage because unavailability of water in the canal affects the farming. The tube well
is not meeting the requirements as per high operating cost.
• Seed available in the market is not good
• Poor marketing channel as they said there is not such a good channel to sell the product in the
market. they are not aware about market trend demand and supply of the product, the middle
men who exploit the farmer community

farmers
• To maximize their profit by eliminating brokers from the
marketing channel.
• It would increase the export level.
