Individual Freedom:
-People are seen as saparate individuals with
individual needs.
-A society in which the power to govern lies in the
hands of the people.
-Other outside interferences from the government,
noble class, and the church are strongly limited.

Equality:
-All citizens have: political equality and are not
denied these rights unless by due process of
law; legal equality and should be treated as
equals before the law.

Materialism:
-Material wealth has traditionally been a widely
accepted measure of social status in the United States.
-By rejecting the system of the European system of
hereditary aristocracy and titles of nobility, a
substitube is founded for judging social status.

Self-reliance:
-All individuals have rights to control their destiny.
-They must learn to rely on and take responsibility
for themselves.
-Being independent from family as early as possible
is strongly encouraged.

Time Importance:
-Americans often say: “Time is money”.
-Always be aware of time.
-Use time efficiently, by get the most done in the shortest
amount of time.
-Occasions, appoinments are also needed time awareness.

Competition:
-People trying to rise to a higher social position is
inevitable.
-From childhood till retirement from work, being
competitive is just like a part of their living.
-For whatever reason, people who do not compete
successfully do not fit into the mainstream life.

Liberty:
-The right to liberty is considered an unalterable
aspect of the human condition.
-The right to liberty includes personal freedom: the
private realm in which the individual is free to act, to
think and to believe, and which the government
cannot legitimately invade.

Justice:
-People should be treated fairly in the distribution of
the benefits and burdens of society, the correction of
wrongs and injuries, and in the gathering of
information and making of decisions.

Trust:
-Citizens can legitimately demand that truth-telling as
refraining from lying and full disclosure by
government be the rule.
-Trust in the veracity of government constitutes an
essential element of the bond between governors and
governed.

Diversity:
-Variety in culture and ethnic background, race,
lifestyle, and belief is not only permissible but
desirable and beneficial in a pluralist society.

Patriotism:
-Virtuous citizens display a devotion to their country,
including devotion to the fundamental values upon
which it depends.

Common Good:
-The public or common good requires that individual
citizens have the commitment and motivation to
promote the welfare of the community and to work
together with other members for the greater benefit
