passive voice
the passive voice is made with an object, plus the verb to be, plus
the past participle. We use it when we’re more interested in the
object of a verb, or if the subject is unknown or obvious.

.
In the Reported Speech, the Statement category uses
the word that as a liaison between the introductory
sentence and the sentence that is reported.
example :

Command is divided into two parts,
namely:
positive command
The positive command sentence is added to in front of the command
sentence, as a liaison between the introductory sentence and the reported
command. Example:
(introductory sentence) He asked/told + to infinitive (sentence reported)
1. Mary told John “Don’t wait for me!” 1. Mary told John not to wait for her!
2. Father asked her “Don’t go there 2. Father asked her not to go there
alone!” alone!
3 question
.
If a direct question uses question words, for example:
Where, When, Why, What, Who, How, etc.
These words are used as a liaison in the reported Speech.
The reported questions took a positive shape.
example :
Direct Speech Indirect Speech
1. The man asked me, “Where do you 1. The man asked me where I lived.
live ?” 2. I asked him when he had got back
2. I asked him, “When did you from his trip.
get back from your trip ?” 3. John asked the girl what her name
3. John asked the girl, “What is your was.
name?”
If the direct question does not use question words and is only a question in the form of
"Yes & No Question", then use the words if, whether (if, what) as a link between the
introductory sentence and the question that is reported.

live near here?” lived near there.
