AUTO INDOOR HYDRO PHONIC FODDER GROW

CHAMBER
Abstract

 Hydroponics is changing the agriculture industry slowly. The ability to grow indoors brings
another dimension to agriculture. Here we develop a fully automated mini fodder grow chamber to
grow fodder indoors within a week.
 The system makes use of a temperature controlled chamber to maintain a cool air flowing
environment along with grow lights to simulate sunlight along with water and moisture monitoring
to ensure proper indoor grow conditions for a good growth.
The system makes use of Arduino controller interfaced with a keypad to get user inputs on the
water change and flow, indoor optimum temperature parameters. The system then monitors the
indoor conditions using water sensor, moisture and temperature sensor to always keep a tap on
indoor conditions.
Introduction

 As the population of India is growing rapidly which is affecting food requirement and use of land.
Traditional agriculture system requires field and proper care of the plant. This forces farmers to
invest their time and resources in order to manage their farms. Farmers spend approximately 1/4th
time of a day in water supply and in addition to this there are other tasks that also need attention
may that be ploughing, removing weeds, checking for deceases and many more which requires
physical efforts by the farmers. Technology such as IoT can help and reduces requirement for land
as well as it can also reduce human efforts.
 In this project the main aim is to design and implement hydroponics system by using IoT for
monitoring various parameters of crop
Existing System

 In the Existing System, people used to check and verify the moisture content in the fields
manually. This is very difficult and risk process to check the condition in the mid-night.
Even though the climate is good the humidity is unknown, so in the previous system we
have some dis-advantages.
Limitations:
Man Power is required
Time Consumption
No Automated Process
No Timely updations

Arduino Uno

 The Uno with Cable is a micro-controller board base on

the ATmega328. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which
6 can be used as PWM outputs); 6 analog inputs, a
16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB connection, a power jack,
an ICSP header, and a reset button.
 It contains everything need to support the microcontroller;
simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power
it with an AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.
16*2 LCD:

An LCD is an electronic display

module that uses liquid crystal to
produce a visible image. The 16×2
LCD display is a very basic module
commonly used in DIYs and circuits.
The 16×2 translates o a display 16
characters per line in 2 such lines. In
this LCD each character is displayed
in a 5×7 pixel matrix.
Relay:

A relay is an electrically operated switch .It

consists of a set of input terminals for a single
or multiple control signals, and a set of
operating contact terminals. The switch may
have any number of contacts in
multiple contact forms, such as make contacts,
break contacts, or combinations thereof.
Temperature Sensor

The DHT11 is a basic, low-cost digital temperature and humidity sensor. It uses a capacitive humidity
sensor and a thermistor to measure the surrounding air, and spits out a digital signal on the data pin (no
analog input pins needed). It’s fairly simple to use, but requires careful timing to grab data. The only
real downside of this sensor is you can only get new data from it once every 2 seconds.
Soil Moisture Sensor

The soil moisture sensor is one kind of sensor used to gauge the volumetric content of water within the
soil. As the straight gravimetric dimension of soil moisture needs eliminating, drying, as well as sample
weighting. These sensors measure the volumetric water content not directly with the help of some other
rules of soil like dielectric constant, electrical resistance, otherwise interaction with neutrons, and
replacement of the moisture content.
Keypad

 A Matrix keypad is the most commonly used input device in many of the application areas like
digital circuits, telephone communications, calculators, ATMs, and so on. A matrix keypad
consists of a set of push button or switches which are arranged in a matrix format of rows and
columns.
GSM/GPRS

 GSM GPRS modules are one of the normally utilized correspondence modules in implanted
gadgets. A GSM GPRS module is utilized to speak with the GSM/GPSR arrange by a
microcontroller (or coordinated circuits). GSM is the Global Mobile Communication System and
GPRS would be the General Packet Radio Service. A GSM GPRS MODEM consolidates a GSM
GPRS module similarly as various fragments, for instance, correspondence interface, (for instance,
Serial Communication-RS-232), control supply and a couple of pointers.
DC Water Pump

 This is Micro Submersible Water Pump DC 3V-5V, can be easily integrate to your water system

project. The water pump works using water suction method which drain the water through its
inlet and released it through the outlet.
Solar Panel

Solar power works well for most items except large electric appliances that use an electric heat element
such as a water heater, clothes dryer and electric stove - for example - or total electric home heating
systems. It is not cost effective to use solar power for these items. Conversion to natural gas, propane or
other alternatives is usually recommended. Solar power can be used to operate a gas clothes dryer
(Maytag, etc) because the electrical requirement is limited to the drum-motor and/or ignito-lighter, but not
a HEAT element for drying the clothes, for example.
Advantages & Applications

Advantages: Applications:
 Easy to Use  Home Growing
 Automatic Operation  Office Growing
 Faster Plant Growth  Growing in Malls
 Growing in Parking Lots
Conclusion

This project shows how automatic hydroponic system can be implemented using electronic
circuit. It describes a how the mix of water and nutrient solution automatically delivered to
the roots of plants. System automatically supply nutrient into Water in every week and
regularly re-circulate mix of water and solution form reservoir. System use less water and
fertilizer as compared to soil system.
