China Pakistan Economic Corridor

History of Pak China Relation


• Pakistan-China relations began in 1950.
• Strategic alliance was formed in 1972 and economic co-operation
began in 1979.
• China has invested $20 billion in various project.
• Mega infrastructural project in Pakistan
 Gwadar Port, the Coastal-Highway linking Karachi with Gwadar, Karakoram
Highway, the Chashma nuclear power plants, and a number of hydro-power
projects.
Introduction
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a framework of regional
connectivity. CPEC will not only benefit China and Pakistan but will
have positive impact on Iran, Afghanistan, India, Central Asian
Republic, and the region. China Pakistan Economic Corridor is journey
towards economic regionalization in the globalized world. It founded
peace, development, and win-win model for all of them. China Pakistan
Economic Corridor is hope of better region of the future with peace,
development and growth of economy.
Economic Gateway Gwadar
• On 8 September 1958 prince Aga khan Karim purchased the Gwadar
enclave from Oman for $3million, and gave it to Pakistan and it
officially became part of Pakistan.
• Gwadar Port is located at the mouth of the Persian Gulf
• Gwadar is a planned free trade port

• Gwadar Port is a strategic developed jointly by the both countries


Gwadar Economic Zone
• China focused on the fast-track construction of roads, other
infrastructure and public buildings.
• In 2013, Gwadar Port operations were officially handed over to
China.
• To connect china with Gwadar through railway track has already
begun.

Chinese industries are facing problem to compete in global market due
to high transportation cost and delivery time.

China is using a longest way due to which transportation cost and


time increases, which give a competitive edge to competitors e.g. Japan,
USA.

It would decrease the travel distance and cost greatly from china to gulf.

Natural Gateway for China.

Positive response by both countries through mutual cooperation .

Both countries are keen to enhance trade activities.
