How does it look?
ENGAGEMENT

Today, we are going to

“Investigate the Properties of
light. Describe how light is
reflected”
(Let them watch the video clip)`
EXPLORATION

Group 1: How do you really look?

1.Take the mirror and attach them together
using a tape so that they form a right
angle.
2.Face the clock toward the two mirrors
(just in front of the angle)
3.Try to look at yourself in the mirrors and

EXPLORATION

`Group 2: Can you read me?

EXPLORATION
Group 3: Can you complete me?

have symmetry (two halves that perfectly
mirror each other)- stars, faces, flowers,
butterflies etc.
2.Put the mirror next to the half and see its
reflection in order to complete the picture.
3.Cut a whole picture from a magazine and
divide it into halves crosswise, and repeat
#2.
EXPLANATION

Group 1: Guided Questions

1.Were you able to comb your hair in front
of the two mirrors?
2.What do you think is the reason why it is
hard to comb your hair in front of the two
mirrors?
3.Which one is easier to comb your hair,
facing in front of the two mirrors or facing
in front in one mirror?
EXPLANATION
Group 1: Guided Questions
1.Were you able to comb your hair in front of the two
mirrors?
No. It is very hard to comb my hair in front of the two mirrors.
2.What do you think is the reason why it is hard to comb
your hair in front of the two mirrors?
Because the light ray bounces back to the other mirror and the
image that we see is behind the mirror.
3.Which one is easier to comb your hair, facing in front of
the two mirrors or facing in front in one mirror?
Facing in front of one mirror is easier to comb my hair.
`
EXPLANATION

Group 2: Guided Questions

1.Can you read what is written in the book
when you placed it in front of the two
mirrors?
2.Can you clearly read the word
“REFLECTION” in front of the two mirrors?
3.How did you read this word
“ECNALUBMA” in front of one mirror?

Group 3: Guided Questions

1.What did you observe when you placed the

halves of the cut –outs beside the mirror?
2.How does the picture look when you see its
reflection in the mirror?
3.What will happen when you cut the drawings
differently crosswise instead of lengthwise, and
place them beside the mirror? Will you get the
full view of the picture?

`
EXPLANATION
Group 3
1.What did you observe when you placed the halves of
the cut –outs beside the mirror?
It looks like a whole.
2.How does the picture look when you see its
reflection in the mirror?
The picture seems to be complete.
3.What will happen when you cut the drawings
differently crosswise instead of lengthwise, and place
them beside the mirror? Will you get the full view of
the picture?
No.
EXPLANATION
Demonstrate the following to the pupils
for further evidence that light is reflected.
1.Throw the ball at the wall in
a straight in front of you.
2.Use a flashlight and let its
light hits the mirror.

surface.

if it is wrong.

incidence are equal.
___2.Reflection is the bouncing off of light.
___3.Light reflects better off shiny things or in a
