What do you think are the qualities that a public speaker
should possess in order to execute their job well?

Because we know for many of us including me, public


speaking and anxiety tend to go hand in hand. So,
when we are speaking and presenting in front of others,
confidence is key.

Passive voice puts a focus on the object that is talked about instead of being subject-
centered.

The company issued a recall of their current products.

A recall of current products is issued by the company.

WORD STRESS
The stress when pronouncing a words can dictate a lot of things. It can even
change the entire meaning of the sentence.

Notice how the stress in the word ‘present’ can shift it from a noun to a verb.

If you’re unsure where the stress is on a word or if the word is too long, break down the word
into its syllables.
EXERCISE
With the aid of google text-to-speech (optional), find out where the stress lies in
these words!
EXERCISE
Prepare a 5-minute speech in which you talk about one of these laws:

1.) Public Execution


2.) Gun Control Act
3.) Same sex marriage

You have to establish your stance on the matter (pro or con), and provide reasons why.
