INTRODUCTION
 China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a collection of infrastructure projects that are
under construction throughout Pakistan since 2013. Originally valued at $46 billion, the value
of CPEC projects is worth $62 billion as of 2017. CPEC is intended to rapidly upgrade
Pakistan's required infrastructure and strengthen its economy by the construction of modern
transportation networks, numerous energy projects, and special economic zones. First
proposed by chinese PM Li-Keqiang and Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif in 2013.

 On 20 April 2015, Pak and China signed an agreement to commence work on CPEC.

 It connects China’s Xinjiang region with Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan and Kyber Pakhtunkhwa
regions.

 China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a collection of projects.


 Link the Pakistan city of Gwadar port in southwestern to china’s northwestern region.
HISTORY OF PAK-CHINA RELATIONS
 Pakistan-China relations began in 1950.

 Strategic alliance was formed in 1972 and economic co-operation began in 1979.

 China has invested 20 billion in various projects.

 China has become Pakistan’s largest supplier of arms and its third-largest trading partner.

 Both countries have an ongoing free trade agreement.

 Economic trade between Pak and China is increased in recent years.

 China greatly inceases its investments in Pakistan.

 A trade free agreements has been signed recently.


CPEC ROUTES

 There are three routes of CPEC:

 1: Central Route

 2: Eastern Route

 3: Western Route
CENTRAL ROUTE
 Gawadar port to kasghar through Pakistan Cities Gawadar, Turbut,
Khuzdar, Rajanpur, DG Khan, Bannu, Peshawar, Kohat and Hasanabdal.
EASTERN ROUTE

 Gawadar port to kasghar through Pakistan Cities Gawadar,


Turbut, Khuzdar, Rajanpur, DG Khan, Faisalabad, Pindi
Bhattian, Rawalpindi and Hasanabdal.
WESTERN ROUTE
 Gawadar port to kasghar through Pakistan Cities Gawadar, Turbut,
Khuzdar, Kalat, Quetta DI Khan, Bannu, Peshawar, Kohat and
Hasanabdal.

DISADVANTAGES OF CPEC

 FTA leads to threat for local markets and local


manufacturers.

 Disturb of local industries.

 Difficult to compeat Chinese products in markets.

 Dependent to China and control the all markets of Pakistan.


BENEFITS TO CHINA

 Trade route expansion in China, Middle East, Africa.

 Chinese energy – 50% oil supplies, saves 2% billion a year.

 It would decrease the travel distance about 7500 km) and cost greatly from
China to Gulf.

 Independent path from India and USA’s interference.

 New business market in another country.

 More Boost the Economy of China.


BENEFITS TO CENTRAL ASIA

 Gawadar- gateway for Central Asia.

 Central Asia can be connected to CPEC via tirmiz (southern city


of uzbekistan).

 CPEC can connect both turmenistan and uzbekistan’s liquid


cargo through pipelines and kazakhstan and kyrgyzstan’s dry
cargo.

 Increase energy market share in western China and India.


CHALLENGES

 Threats from opposite factors like as terrorism.

 America is against CPEC.

 Destabilization of Afghanistan.

 Political destabilize (Like recent political destabilization Nawaz sharif).

 Militants operations against terrorists.

 Security issues for CPEC.


CONCLUSION

 Natural Gateway from China.

 Positive response by both countries through mutual cooperation.

 Both countries are keep to enhance trade activities.

 Infrastructural improvement and Development of Dams.

 Stability of Economy by investment in different sectors.
