communication refers to a
person using a language to
express desires, needs, wants,
likes and dislikes, inclinations,
Examples of motivational words/
expressions/ persuasions.

• E.g.
• GOOD JOB! YOU CAN MAKE IT!
• YOU CAN DO IT! TRUST HIM!
• VERY GOOD! YOU CAN DO BETTER
• GREAT! BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!
• KEEP IT UP! TRY THE NEXT ROUND!
• DON’T GIVE UP! DO YOUR BEST!
• YOU ARE STRONG! GOOD LUCK!
INFORMATION
•Communication can be used for
giving and getting information.
Giving information usually
comes in the form of statements
of facts (grammatically known as
MEDIUM OF INFORMATION

• MASS MEDIA (Television News, Radio, CNN etc.)


• INTERNET (google, youtube, yahoo etc.)
• WRITE UPS (Newspapers, Books, Magazines, Encyclopaedias etc.)
• SEMINARS
• NOTICE BOARDS
• MANUALS
• PAMPLETS
• INSTRUCTION SHEETS
EMOTIONAL EXPRESSION

•Human always need to express


their emotions verbally and non-
verbally. Emotions are central
parts of who we are. Beyond
thinking about the things and
people and our world, we feel
VERBAL EMOTIONS

I hate you….. Don’t do it again…

I love you….

I miss you…

I am mad at you…..
ACTIVITIES
• Group yourselves into 3 then pick your topic and make a role playing (5 mins
each group ) that shows the three functions of communication.
• Communication as motivation
• Communication as information
• Communication to express emotions.
