Career Development Needs

Program Content
■ The program will occur during the students regular advisement periods. These will occur
once a month during the students’ sophomore year and twice a semester during the
students’ junior year.
■ Sophomore year:
– Complete the Self-Directed Search and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
– Use results from assessments to explore careers in the Occupational Outlook
Handbook
■ Junior year:
– Receive instruction on how to write a resume, including structure and format, key
words to use, key tips of what to include and what to avoid
– Receive instruction regarding what to expect in an interview and how to be prepared
for an interview
– Participate in role play mock interviews
Cost, Personnel, Promotion
■ The program will occur during the school day and will not require time outside of
school hours. Students’ will be required to complete the Self-Directed Search,
which is about $10. The fee will be covered by the students’ tuition.’
■ About 200 students (~100 sophomores & ~100 juniors) will participate each
school year
■ The program content will be implemented into advisement meeting periods,
which will be led by the students’ advisement teachers.
■ Posters detailing the program will be posted around the school, as well as
mentioned during the morning announcements for the entire week prior to each
meeting time. A letter will be sent home with each student for the parents to
review and become familiar with the program.
