Flowering Plants
1. Flowering plants produce flowers for reproduction.
2. The stamen is the male part of flower. It is made up
of the anther and the filament. The anther
contains pollen grains, which contain male
reproductive cells called sperm.
3. The carpel or pistil is the female part of the flower.
It is made up of the stigma, style and ovary
containing one or more ovules. Each ovule contains a
female reproductive cell called an egg or ovum.
4. The sepals surround and protect a flower when it is
in the bud stage.
5. The petals are usually the most colourful parts of a
flower. They surround the reproductive parts of
flower. Petals may be small or absent in some flowers.
