- “DIVERSITY” MEANS MORE THAN JUST
ACKNOWLEDGING AND/OR TOLERATING
DIFFERENCE. DIVERSITY IS A SET OF
CONSCIOUS PRACTICES THAT INVOLVE.
- IT IS UNDERSTANDING THAT EACH
INDIVIDUAL IS UNIQUE, AND RECOGNIZING
OUR DIFFERENCES. THESE CAN BE ALONG THE
DIMENSIONS OF RACE, ETHNICITY, GENDER,
SEXUAL ORIENTATION, SOCIO-ECONOMIC
STATUS, AGE, PHYSICAL ABILITIES, RELIGIOUS
BELIEFS, POLITICAL BELIEFS AND OTHER
IDEOLOGIES.

IS FAMILIAR WITH LEARNERS’ BACKGROUND


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES
INDICATORS:

1. OBTAINS INFORMATION ON LEARNING


STYLES, MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE AND
NEEDS OF LEARNERS

2. DESIGNS OR SELECT LEARNING


EXPERIENCES SUITED TO DIFFERENT KINDS
OF LEARNERS
3. STABLISHES GOALS THAT DEFINE
APPROPRIATE EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL
LEARNERS.

4. PACES LESSONS APPROPRIATE TO NEEDS


AND/OR DIFFECULTIES OF LEARNERS.
5. INITIATS OTHER LEARNING APPROACHES
FOR LEARNERS WHOSE NEEDS HAVE NOT BEEN
MET BY USUAL APPROACHES.
STRAND 2:

DEMONSTRATES CONCERN FOR HOLISTIC


DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNERS
INDICATORS:

1. RECOGNIZES MULTI-CULTURAL BACGROUND


OF THE LEARNERS WHEN PROVIDING
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.
- Teacher should take time to learn more about the
background, values, histories, practices and traditions of
the student and Families.
2. ADOPTS STRATEGIES TO ADRESS NEEDS OF
DIFFERENT-ABLED STUDENTS
- Set common rules for the entire class and make sure
that the different abled students also follow the rules and be
equal rights in the classroom. Do not consider the child
different from others just because of his physical disability.
Never criticize the students for his disability.
3. MAKE APPROPRIATE ADJUSTMENTS OF
LEARNERS OF DIFFERENT SOCIO-ECONOMIC
BAGROUND.
