SOLVE.
1. A company advertises two jobs openings. One of the jobs is
a receptionist and the other a custodian. If 10 equally qualified
people apply for both jobs, in how many ways can the
openings be filled?
2. A newspaper is looking for three full page adds. One
will be in the front of the paper, one will be in the middle
of the paper, and one will be the back page. The editor of
the paper has eight stories to choose from. How many
ways can the paper be set up?
3. A newspaper advertiser receives request to run eight full
page
adds in her newspaper. She decides that she only has
space for
three this week. How many ways can the three adds be
selected?
4. Twelve horses will race. Money will be given to the top
four horses. How many ways could the horses come in
first, second, third or fourth?
5. Twelve horses will race. You are going to choose four
horses to bet on. How many ways can you choose them?
6. We have 5 books we would like to arrange on a shelf. A
Science book, a Math book, a Social Studies book, an
English book and a Statistics book. How many ways can
we arrange these five books?
