3 INTRODUCTION
India is considering renewable energy resources (RES) like solar and wind as alternative for
future energy needs.
The renewable energy sources have increased significantly due to environmental issues and
fossil fuels elevated cost
The ever increasing price of petroleum products and the reduction in cost of renewable energy
power systems, opportunities for renewable energy systems to address electricity generation
seems to be increasing.
However, to achieve commercialization and widespread use, an efficient energy management
strategy of system needs to be addressed. Recently, the concept of smart grid has been
successfully applied to the electric power systems.
Integration of renewable energy sources to utility grid depends on the scale of power
generation.
4 WHAT IS INTEGRATED RE?
It is the process of power transfer “watt” from renewable energy sources to the utility system
grid, so the network is fed by a source of RE.
The output of power from RE has to be an AC power in order to meet integration conditions
where allow power to transfer to the substation , which might be a distribution substation.
After that, the power can move to transmission lines, which could be high or low voltage, or
directly to distribution system, which usually is low or medium voltage.
5 BENIFITS
 Impact of RE-Grid integration has been approved, so the positive aspect of RE_Grid
integration can be classified mainly as follow: environmental, social, and economic
positives.
 RE technologies has zero fossil fuel emission, so the integration will help fossil fuel
power generation plants to reduce emission of CO2 in way of less generating power. In
addition, it will help to increase to save our natural recourse by reducing extraction of
fuels.
 Our societies and plant will become more clean and health due to the low reducing CO2.
Also, the integration improves the reliability of power grid failure since it uses storage
system.
 Integrated RE improves the situation of our economic in different ways such creating new
jobs.
Challenges
6 Most of green energy sources rely on uncontrolled resources .
On other words , producing power from RE comes from nature resources such as sunshine , wind, or
ocean waves .This kind of sources leads us to know the power generation from RE is intermittent
and inconstant.
As a result, it is a challenge mission to share power from RE technologies into Ac grid . There are
many problems of this incorporation.

 POWER QUALITY ISSUES
7 For an ideal PQ
 Ensure stability and high efficiency
 High reliability and less cost
Poor PQ leads to
 Harmful effects on the power grid
 High cost
 Equipment failure
 Low power factor ,voltage fluctuation , frequency disorder

 AVAILABLITY OF POWER
In PV energy, Producing electricity stand up on when sunshine is available and off at night,
and also wind energy depends on the availability of wind.
 VARIATION OF POWER GENERTION
Different level of generating power from RE technologies is another difficulty.
8
Small variation in power output is not going to have a concern effect , but when the magnitude of
fluctuation in power output is large , special requirement have to be considerable.

For solar energy , the producing power at noon is not the same at the beginning or end of the day.
 SPEED OF VARIATION
Small change in fluctuation in a small period of time greatly affects change in power.
 FORECASTING
It ensures stability and high reliability.
RE technologies depend on weather and environmental factors, the prediction in power generation is hard
in terms of accuracy.
Accuracy is obtained in case of load forecast and results in high quality of operation due to constant
production of power and ensures future load demand.
 LOCATION OF RE PLANTS
9 Place for operation on RE technologies involves
 Some RE source are not available in each region
 Distance between RE source and the grid is a major aspect in term of cost and efficiency
 Depends on weather, climate, and geographical location.
 COST ISSUES
Economic estimation is a prime part in RE grid integration planning since we have to keep
the rate of cost low as possible.
The two main aims of the RE are to save our environment and reduce the cost of
generation power.
10 CONCLUSION
 Recent trends in the power generation and distribution system shows that penetration level
of DG into the Grid has increased considerably. End user appliances are becoming more
sensitive to the power quality condition
 The up-gradation in balance of systems by incorporating the new materials and storage
elements could reduce the problems associated with grid integration.
 To minimize the fluctuations and intermittent problems power electronic devices are viable
options.
 Further, energy storage and use of dump load and MPPT could be used for reducing the
power fluctuations in PV systems. The up-gradation in balance of systems by incorporating
the new materials and storage elements could reduce the problems associated with grid
integration.
