PRESENT PERFECT

We use the present perfect for an unspecific time in the past. The exact time is not
important. We also use the present perfect to talk about experiences up to the
present time or to talk about finished actions that are important or relevant now.
The present perfect is not used with a specific time reference.
Examples:

Maria has been to Italy.

I have eaten spicy ceviche since I was 8 years old.

Diego has broken his leg, so he can't go on holiday.

We often use the present perfect with ever and never.
Examples:

Have you ever bought a brand new car? (at any time in your life)

I have never sung in public. (up to now)

Be careful not to confuse be and go in the present perfect.

Examples:

Mario has been to Lima. (Mario went to Lima and came back.)

Mario has gone to Lima. (Mario is still in Lima)

PAST SIMPLE
We use the past simple for completed actions in the past and when we specify
the time of an action.
.
Examples:

Juan danced salsa very well in his last birthday.

My mother bought bread and milk for breakfast.

Sara didn’t go to the cinema yesterday night.

Did you paint your house last year?
