Marzano Strategies

• The next few slides will inform you about three

different strategies of teaching form Marzano that I
feel are most important to me that match with my
content area and philosophy of thinking.
 Setting Objectives
• This is very important especially scenes I teach science with a focus in chemistry. When
students start the class, it is important that they understand what they will be learning and
doing for that day. This will start focusing their minds on the task at hand and prepare them

Feedback Providing Feedback
• This should be done with great care and taken seriously. Providing feedback should be
specific, given in a timely manner when it is most affective, and it should be done on a specific
criteria that the students can understand. This is very important especially when teaching a
Providing student, a new topic or providing instructions for a lab. If a student is doing starting to do
something incorrectly in lab, I may want to give them helpful feedback before they complete
the action, so they understand where the mistake was. Feedback should also never be
generalized. Whether the work is good or bad we should give direct details so students can
always find a way to put their best foot forward.
Cooperative
Learning
• This is when student learn together by
having productive conversation that leads
to students enhancing each others learning.
This allows them to use critical thinking to
find solutions to questions or problems
when they are working on an assignment
with each other. You often see this in
chemistry. It requires students to
communicate with one another to complete
the lab and to create a lab report. If there is
pore communication or a lack of effort from
a member it will often show in their work.
 • Understand how to take note and
summarize information is an important
strategy for any student. When this is
done correctly it can allow the student to

In chemistry you have what is called lab
books. These are done in certain formats
to keep track of information that you

experiment. These are important
references especially in the professional

difference of obtaining a paten or losing
one to a competitor.
