Steps for calculations in the design report
• Design the thickness of slab panels satisfying deflection criteria (ref
clause 23.2 of IS 456
• Rankine Grashoff theory also should be used to check delfection
• Load calculation assume floor finish, ceiling plaster and partition wall
load as 1.5 kN/m2

Steps for calculations in the design report
• Prepare a table for design of slabs with columns as follows
• Panel marked, Edge condition, ly/lx, bending moment coefficients (𝝰x,
….), bending moment (𝝰 wlx2,…), Factored BM, percentage of steel
required (ptx, ptx’,…), Area of steel required (Astx, …), Spacing
required, Spacing provided
• Design of roof slab be done with self weight lime terracing as
0.125 x 20000 = 2500 N/m2, and live load = 1500 N/m2.

Hand method steps before computer analysis
like staad.Pro softwares were available
• Consider one external frame and one internal frame (most critical).
• Analyse for DL and LL by substitute frame method at ground floor
level, 4th floor level, 8th floor level, and roof level by substitute frame
