Introduction
The Ministry of Tourism, is the nodal agency for the formulation of national
policies and programs and for the co-ordination of activities of various Central
Government Agencies, State Governments/UTs and the Private Sector for the
development and promotion of tourism in the country.
Shri Prahalad Singh Patel is the Minister of culture and tourism of the
State.
Objectives of ministry of tourism
• The main objective of this sector is to develop and
promote tourism, maintain competitiveness of India
as tourist destination and improve and expand
existing tourism products to ensure employment generation
and economic growth.

National Policy on Tourism
• Tourism policy is a set of decisions and practises driven by
the government, sometimes in collaboration with private or
social actors with the intention to achieve diverse objectives
related to tourism.

India stole the limelight at the World Tourism Mart 2011
in London by winning two global awards - World's Leading
Destination and World's Leading Tourist Board. This was
possible due to the efforts of the tourism industry.
