The beginning of the Internet is the story of two large computers, miles
apart, sending the message: “LO.” The world has never been the
same.
In the late 1960s an experimental network of four computers called
ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) was
commissioned by the U.S. government. The computers were located at
UCLA, SRI International (then known as Stanford Research Institute),
UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Utah. ARPANET evolved into
the network of computer networks we know as the Internet.
On October 29, 1969, the first message was sent
between two ARPANET computers. They tried to type in “LOGIN,” but
the computers crashed after the first two letters.

reputation as the co-founder of Microsoft, the world’s largest PC software company, with Paul Allen.
During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect,
and was also the largest individual shareholder until May 2014. He has also authored and co-authored

Today he is consistently ranked in the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people and was the

Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin (Russian: Серге́й Миха́йлович Брин; born August 21, 1973) is an
American computer scientist and internet entrepreneur who, together with Larry Page, co-founded
Google, one of the most profitable Internet companies. According to Hurun Global Rich List 2015 he is
jointly one of three people listed as 18th richest in the world (21 overall) with a net worth of US$30
billion. Brin and Page each own about 16 percent of the company.
Brin immigrated to the United States with his family from the Soviet Union at the age of 6. He earned his
undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps
by studying mathematics, as well as computer science. After graduation, he moved to Stanford
University to acquire a PhD in computer science. There he met Larry Page, with whom he later became
friends. They crammed their dormitory room with inexpensive computers and applied Brin's data mining
system to build a search engine. The program became popular at Stanford and they suspended their
PhD studies to start up Google in a rented garage.
The Economist referred to Brin as an "Enlightenment Man", and as someone who believes that
"knowledge is always good, and certainly always better than ignorance", a philosophy that is summed
up by Google's mission statement "Organize the world's information and make it universally accessible
and useful" and unofficial motto "Don't be evil".
