at the University of the Philippines Los Baños
Mari Sese (UPLB) campus and his Master’s degree in Physics at
the Diliman campus.

• Finished his Doctorate in Physics in 2009 at the


University of Tsukuba in Japan (specialization in
computational astrophysics focusing on the radiative
transfer processes in circumstellar disks around
massive stars)

Dr. Rogel Mari Sese

• Appointed as the Government Focal Person of the Philippine


Space Science Education Program under the Science
Education Institute of the Department of Science and
Technology.
• Promoting space science education and development in the
Philippines through various initiatives such as the Universe
Awareness Program and the Galileo Teacher Training
Program.
• Research interests: Stellar astrophysics, astrophysical
instrumentation, nano-satellite development and space
science education.

Philip Alviola

• University of the Philippines Los Banos with a Bachelor's Degree in


Biology and has completed a Master's Degree in Wildlife Studies
also from the same university.

• A wildlife biologist with an experience of over 20 years, Prof.


Alviola has substantially contributed to the fields of mammalian
ecology and taxonomy, cave biology, conservation biology, and bat

virology.

• Field biologist with many conservation organizations in the


Philippines, pursuing a special interest in the diverse species of bats
before he was eventually hired as a research associate by the MNH.

exposed to the Museum of Natural History's work and
activities during his growing years. Even before he
finished college, he has been involved in some of the
Museum's expeditions led by his father, the late Prof.
Pedro L. Alviola III.

wanted to be a well-rounded researcher. Usually, if
you’re going to take materials physics as specialization,
you go to the condensed matter physics laboratory, or
the liquid crystal laboratory.”
