AIM

• To determine factors that can cause work related

injuries among medical laboratory scientists in the
University of cape coast hospital ,Ankaful
psychiatric hospital and Cape Coast Teaching
Hospital .

OBJECTIVES

• To assess and characterize self-reported levels of

compliance with universal precautions among medical
laboratory scientists and to determine correlates of
compliance.

• To assess occupational and personal stress among

medical laboratory scientists in the three hospitals and
how it affect working procedures and results.

• To determine which units of the laboratory and the

laboratory procedures which medical laboratory scientists
are more prone to work-related injuries

HYPOTHESIS

 Laboratory work results and workers can be negatively

affected by a lot of factors like stress ,not adhering to
certain precaution protocols and most importantly when
the right equipment are not used or are not available to be
used by medical laboratory scientists .

MATERIALS AND METHODS

 SURVEY
Questionnaires will be given out to medical laboratory
scientists at the various hospitals.
 INTERVIEW
A brief interview will be conducted with the medical laboratory
working staffs at the various hospitals.
 VIDEO OR AUDIO RECORDING
A video recording of certain laboratory working procedures will
be captured.
